Forums - Sales - Why publishers don't do buy II get I free?

In most cases, when a sequel is out, the older one would stop selling.

Why they don't make a Buy "Awsome game 2" and get "Awesome game 1" for free?

If that's too soon, they could try Buy "Awsome game 3" and get "Awesome game 1" for free.

Have you been looking at the steam sales again? they just had one like this. I forget what game it was though. But it was preorder the 3rd and get the first 2 free i believe.

For downloaded games it makes total sense!

For hardcopy games, it will add to the costs of the physical media and distribution.

Square-Enix did... if you pre-order Dungeon Siege 3 you get 1 and 2 free.

I mean gamestop does it on used games all the time... granted you could probably get those 3 games cheaper on ebay than the 2 you pay for at gamestop.

I am trying to ignore Steam atm. Buying too many games and didn't even touch half of them yet.

Every new copy of Yakuza 4 came with a free copy of Yakuza 3 around these parks. I think something something similar happened with Mass Effect 2.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

you can buy uncharted, tomb raider and mercenaries 2 for the ps3 for 30$ in a pack

im not sure if you would want to count things like orange box, or things like the gow trilogy pack, sly collection, the three tomb raiders that were released together or other remasted packages of games, but those are there also

portal 2, and it was number 1 for ages.

Anyways: Steam has been doing this for ages.

Also as for boxed product, its the retailers decision, and i have send Eb games do this many times.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
