Edge - 9/10

"Portal 2 delivers, and it does it in style, creating one of the most meticulously designed, thrilling and delightful playgrounds we’ve ever seen. It’s a game with a magical take on momentum, where single bounds over tall buildings are business as usual, where every surface is a potential launchpad, and the entire experience is a belly laugh. Valve has a pretty good record with the number two, but attempting to inflate Portal’s perfectly formed package could easily have been a disaster. Naturally, the sequel doesn’t feel as bracingly fresh as the 2007 game, but it’s precisely the sort of dizzying follow-up the original deserves"

GamePro - 5/5

PROS: Consistently clever and challenging puzzles; excellent single-player and co-op campaigns; fantastic presentation and audio design.
CONS: Second act is a bit aimless in-between stages; new ending theme is no "Still Alive."

So, the year has it's first real major GOTY contender. It's above 95 now, the only other games that stand a chance are Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 and Uncharted 3. It will be a battle of an epic magnitude, but what is this? A secret contender has stepped up to the plate! Is it The Last Guardian? Infamous 2? Arkham City? Is it an unknown challenger?

Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z!.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Really glad to see it getting awesome scores, should level out at around 93% on Meta I guess (later reviews always seem to bump the score down a bit). Can't wait to play it.

I think the same... Uncharted 2 for hold 96 in metacritic received a lot more perfect scores in first reviews.

93/94 is FANTASTIC.

This seems amazing. I really wasn't expecting this game to get such great reviews. And it comes out right before my birthday too.

Played it, finished it, 7 hours and a half. Not worth the $45. Original portal was that long for a much lower price.

Otherwise, the game is just as awesome as Portal was.

What are your thoughts on the puzzles compared to the original?

They've surely been dumped down because of slow console gamers.

Looking pretty awesome...

Also, I hope magazines with scoring systems like The Escapist doesn't drag the Metacritic down. It won't last for long, but it'll be a solid game anyway. I reckon 93 at the end.

The original played out in about 3 to 4 hours, that sounds much longer.  Also, value is subjective.  I'd happly have paid $60 just for Portal as I found my time with it superior to pretty much every other game that year.  This reminds me, I need to comment in VG's Portal 2 review and stick in my usual complaint that trying to assign a value to a game that will be played by millions of different people with different tastes is a fools errand and something I believe only the worst review sites do.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
