Nintendo has sold more handheld consoles than anyone. Why have a controller with a screen in? Why not use DS?

Everything is a rumor in my opinion until Nintendo actually announces it.  And I frankly hope the controller designs we've seen so far are not what Nintendo is going to do.  Why do we need touch screens on a controller?  And that seems like a step backwards in 'innovation' compared to even the Wii.

If anything, I think Nintendo's new system would have some kind of 3D gimmick tying into the 3DS.  Or perhaps they're even working on making 3D on TV without glasses.

The controller is what made me realize the rumors were bull. I couldn't ever see Nintendo going from a simple, intuitive design like the Wii-Mote to a big, clunky hunk of plastic like I've seen in the reports. That doesn't sound like Nintendo at all
