The rumoured Wii price cut might have been put in place a bit early, several retailer listings suggest.

Most major retailers, including Gamestop, Amazon, Bestbuy, ToysRus and Target have slashed the Wii’s price to $ 169.99, a $30 drop from its previous price of $199.99.

Engadget had reported that the Wii will be getting a price cut in May, down to $150.

Various reports also suggest that Nintendo’s set to announce Wii 2 at this year’s E3.

Hopefully Nintendo will make something official soon.

Splitting $50 price drop into two parts sounds like a terrible idea to me.

Not the price cut, only a sale.

When I look around those sites, they all show $199 as the regular price with 169 as the sale price. This is a typical sale, not a price drop.

In fact walmart has only the older versions with separate motion plus units at a 179 sale price while the normal unit is 199.
