Wow, so much hate for kz2. Do many of you realize it has a higher score than kz3 on most sites? Do many of you know that  a significant percentage of kz2 fans don't like kz3?

I can understand your dislike for kz2...it's a pretty hard game to learn but if you did endure the learning curve, you appreciate it as the most unique FPS to hit consoles this gen. There's a reason some of us can't let go. While KZ3 may look fresh and shiny, it's actually a huge downgrade to kz2 when you look in depth.

For starters, the best feature of kz2's MP is absent from kz3 i.e custom servers and server lists. While kz2 may no have many game modes, you can play the game however you want thanks to this. Bodycount did not need its own mode with less maps if you could simply create it yourself. Even operations is just CnH and SnD with boring cutscenes tacked on. Rifles only? You got it. Pistol only? You got it. Forum game? you got it. Sniper only? you got it. This increases a game's staying power on a ridiculous level. I know lots who got kz3 and have since returned to the gem caled kz2. If anyone knows of another fps on consoles this gen that has this feature, pls let me know cos this makes kz2 the best fps MP this gen IMHO. WHo would've though a JRPG fan like myself could spend 92 days playing an FPS nline?

I could go on and on with the other ridiculous downgrades but I'll stop at the most obvious and indsputable one and what untimatley made me skip kz3. I'm willing to bet that by the end of this year, kz2 will have more people still playing online than kz3.

Killzone 2 was buggy and slow. Glad you like the game but most of us think that almost everything is better about Killzone 3.

Last I checked KZ3 has its bugs as well and its just as slow. Who  is "us" exactly because the people I know prefer kz2 and while some still play kz3 regardless, they agree that kz2 is better. KZ3 is just fresher ATM. It's time that will tell. As bad as KZ2 suppsedly is, its MP is still alive and kicking after 2 huge COD releases. I have to say though that most people who hate kz2 just really sucked which is fair enough. I sucked too at the start like everyone else but it was too sweet to stop playing.

KZ3 has no custom servers, very mediocre stat tracking, no battle replays (people were even expecting a cinema like Blops and Halo). These are very basic fetaures of kz2 that the devs axed for no reason...perhaps because they were too busy suporting move and 3D that they forgot the basics.

I think most people on this thread think Killzone 3 is a huge improvement form KZ2. Killzone 2 was a good game but it had many bugs. Controls were tacky. Multiplayer was really slow as opposed to Killzone 3. Killzone 3 has so many more feautures than Killzone 2. A more proper ranking system and I could go on forever but I'd rather just stop now.

No just a bigger launch like around 1 million. I'm pretty impressed with the legs though.

Loads of other games coming out?

Now, if they were released on a console with a software drought...

And it's hardly like it's only sold De Blob 2 levels now is it?

This is very simple. Read the bolded.

"The only franchise in the world that can hang with Halo in terms of FPS fanbase is Call of Duty."

Halo Reach =8.21 m sold.

COD: Black OPS= 24.04 million.

Roughly triple it's numbers and it's doing this annually at the moment. By the end of this gen, COD will be the best selling series in one genration ever. I think it's at 85 million plus so far this gen.

Again your ignoring sales in comparison to individual platforms.  Halo oustsells PS3 versions of COD and hangs with or outsells the 360 version of COD in every case EXCEPT for Black Ops.  One game in a series is hardly comparable to the overall sales of a franchise on a console as a whole.

And are you honestly trying to compare adding up all sales for the game on every platform and compare them to the sales of an exclusive game on one?  You know my point and your just playing a game of semantics.  There should have been no problem in the first place I simply commented in response to someone who claimed Killzone has a currently higher player population than Halo when they aren't even close.  And of course since I said anything Pro 360 related I get jumped on.

Its honestly starting to get old for the 360 fans on here and I'm a huge PS3 fan as well but I usually don't even spend time sideing with it in discussion because the debates on this site are so unbalanced someone needs to be actually complimenting 360 stuff.

The PS3 version of Black OPS has outsold Halo Reach with less time on the market by 1.61 million. The series is growing, and it's utterly gigantic as this stage. Who would have thought a FPS on the PS3 could rival Halo?

I did compare the sales of the two series, and I think it's very telling. You were right to correct the other poster. There was never a problem, I had an issue with your original post, you stated something incorrect, so I addressed it.

It's an electronic device managed by a multibillion dollar company, you don't need to spend time defending it.

1.  Cod is a bigger franchise than Halo for sure.  No one including me ever debated this.  COD IS NOT a far bigger franchise per individual platform as a whole.  Again one game in a series outselling the other by a significant amount isn't the same as pwning an entire franchise this should be obvious.  Thing is again your comparing sales of an exclusive game to sales of a multi-plat, hardly comparable in any way shape or form.

2.  There should be no problem with my original post I never said anything that wasn't true.

3. If your really trying to even insinuate that I'm someone who defends a piece of plastic and metal cause I feel any allegiance at all to it your wrong.  I could care less about "teh conzolz warz" and who wins.  What I AM defending are the fans of said system who quite frankly are treated pretty unfairly in many threads on this site.  It has created an air of hostility to many 360 fans who are always on the defensive when discussing it and its games.  Go into most 360 realted games thread and see how many times you'll see games like God of War, Killzone, Uncharted, Infamous, and countless other brougsht up even when said thread is firmly in the MS forums.

1. ) Call of Duty is a bigger franchise, the start of this you did not mention a specific platform.  Your fault, no one elses.  Even as a specific platform, Call of Duty regularly has more people playing and has appealed to various console user bases (Something Halo couldn't accomplish, it's experience on PC was pretty miserable as a whole).

3.)   You most certainly are someone who defends a piece of code and you have been for quite sometime from posts I have read from you in the past.  (Halo fan to the extreme).  You think that Halo has a great story and they have conveyed that well in their games.  You think the sun rises and sets on Halo's amazing self.

And to jump out and say 'poor 360 fans get treated terriblez!!'  give me a break, please.   360 fans that make sense and don't spew total non-sense get treated the same as Nintendo or Sony fans who don't spew total non-sense either.    Some fans, who claim every game is the best graphical game on the planet (When it's clearly not)  and continuously get proven wrong obviously don't get respect for obvious reasons.

The biggest problem I have witnessed with some 360 fans is that they feel that sales of a specific title (Halo is a great example)  must mean that it's one of the best games to ever exist.  The reality is sales have a lot more to do with marketing, type of game versus userbase, amount of games out concurrently, widespread public appeal (Moms, Dads, Kids, Teenagers, etc)   random public hype more than anything truly tangible like game quality, content, etc.

For example, the 360 and Halo  is an American company with American-centric advertising, sales tactics, creating an American appealed game, with limited competition on their system,  on a system primarily with a US presence,  that also benefitted from public hype and a quality original game with a mature enough demeanor to attract teenagers and college students and a immature enough appeal (Lack of serious blood or gore) to get the green light from parents for younger children.

Is it really any surprise that a game like Halo has sold well for two generations especially on the 360?

Compare that to the PS3 and Sony.  With Euro/Japan Centric appeal and flare, with the worst sales in the American market,  obviously it's not going to do as well in the FPS department. Mind you, it has it's strengths versus the 360 but FPS's aren't one of them.

The appeal that Sony has always maintained with their consoles is variety.  Whether you're from Japan, Europe, America, Canada, Mexico, Africa, etc.  This is probably more because of the fact that Sony has tons of studios from various locations, but regardless this is the strength of the Sony brand and always has been.   It has a negative effect on sales for 'specific' titles in some cases but usually provides strong software sales on a broad sense.  (Which is really the only thing that matters to them as a company).

Not sure if your being serious here or not.  Its pretty much unanimous in agreement 360 fans are vastly outnumbered on this site, and that their voice gets pretty drowned out by everyone else.  I mean the proof is everywhere in comparison to fans of the other consoles the 360 fans are a small minority.  Obviously the 360 will have "fanboys" and "trolls" same as any other platform.  I've never claimed their better than anyone else, just that many debates are unbalanced due to them being vastly outnumbered, thus the main reason why I usually stick up for the 360 and its fans, so the debates will be somewhat balanced.

And so what if I'm a big Halo fan?  Does that stop me from enjoying other FPS?  Last I checked I gave Killzone 3 a 9.7 in my review, have claimed multiple times I believe its the graphics King, and have a Platinum trophy on it. I wonder can you honestly say or prove that you have played both Killzone and Halo extensively as I have?

Think carefully before you accuse and slander others as being overly biased, especially users who have a proven track record of being pretty fair for the most part.

I haven't been too impressed with KZ3 to be honest.

Graphics are fine, and the story is ok. I just couldn't get into the online and I still rather play Resistance2 than this. I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone except a FPS fanatic.

So...

EDIT: I mean, its a good game, but not what I would call AAA.

so a AAA games has to appeal to more than just the people who would normally play that game. Reminds me of GT5 and it's reviews how it got knocked for being ONLY a racing simulator for racing simulator fans

sooner the industry breaks this incredibly stupid mentality is when actual variety will see a return.

OT: I know A LOT of killzone fans who didn't bother getting KZ3 because of the dumbed down gameplay and multiplayer, I haven't got it yet because I have no more munny :(

because stupid ps3 fans dont support their great exclusives.

if these games were on xbox they would sell like this:

Killzone 3: 6 million LTD

Uncharted 2: 7 million LTD

GOW3: 5.5 million

i dont get it these are the sales they deserve but they dont get them

I used to feel the same way, and used to get really irritated at ps3 owners; but now I think it's mainly bc of the difference between ps3's install base in the U.S./Americas compared to 360. Don't U.S./Americas gamers tend to buy more games than those in other regions?

Plus there is so much more to play and do with a PS3 than a 360.

How many 360 exclusives have their been in 2011 so far vs. the amount for PS3?

Killzone 3 is selling well for a PS3 exclusive. If you're asking why Killzone 3 sales aren't as strong as Halo, Call of Duty, or Gears of War it's because it doesn't have as strong of a multiplayer component. Multiplayer is fun, but there is nothing really bringing you back into the game. Resident Evil 5 sold well despite having poor multiplayer because of the strong label Resident Evil 4 laid. Also Killzone doesn't have as epic of a story arc as other Sci-Fi shooters like Halo, Gears of War, or Resident Evil. The events in Killzone 3 are much more loosly tied to the events in other Killzones compared to the other mentioned sci fi shooters. So..

1. Not as addicitve multiplayer as compeditors

2. Not the king of multiplayer games, so it's forgotten quickly since everyone else is playing Call of Duty.

3. Not so massive story arc.

I don't agree that Halo or Call of Dutys MP is better.

Just to let you know Killzone has great multiplayer. Many people are on (possibly more than Reach as of today) And Gears 2 multiplayer was pretty bad it had many bugs and people complaining. For the Cod and Halo part I agree with you but come on we both know it deserves much more sales than the 1.4 million right now.

Killzone Multiplayer is unbalanced. It's not as polished, and the level of skill varies significantly. Halo separates new players from vetarans based on rank, and unlocks custom armor based on credits earned, and has daily chalenges. Call of Duty unlocks perks, weapons, and weapon mods based on $$$ which is then based off kills. Halo and CoD are polished online games, very compeditive, and I severly doubt that Killzone has anywhere nearly as many online users as either.

wait what? I'm confused here a bit so help me out. You list that halo and cod have things they can unlock as they progress etc.....kinda makes it sound as if KZ does not have such things or something....have you played KZ3 mp?

No my PS3 broke, going to play KZ3 co-op with my friend in the summer. I'm basing a lot of my arguement off KZ2, which I did not feel was up to the level of quality Halo 3, Gears 2 or Modern Warfare 1 were at.

yeah I figured as much since what you said just made no sense...KZ3 mp has all of them too...and it's a LOT of fun :D I suck at FPS MP comparatively but I can't seem to stop playing this one
