It may come as a surprise, but this isn't just another re-release of Final Fantasy IV. This is the definitive version of the game.

Closing Comments

Clearly, Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection is the ultimate purchase for Final Fantasy IV fans. Even if you’re already experienced with the core Final Fantasy IV experience, there’s still so much to see and do here that it’ll be hard not jump back in. The After Years and Interlude certainly aren’t as strong as the primary game, but fans like me will enjoy getting to know more about the characters we love in locales we’re already familiar with, putting a little bow on the entire saga.

But there’s just as much here for gamers who are unfamiliar with Final Fantasy IV. The main game is enough of a draw, but having all of this extra content will simply give you more bang for your buck. Just be sure to play sequentially if you’re new to Final Fantasy IV, or you’ll be completely lost. If you haven’t played Final Fantasy IV, are a fan of RPGs, and don’t find yourself utterly impressed with the game, I will be surprised.

IGN Ratings for Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection (PSP)
Rating Description
out of 10 Click here for ratings guide
9.0 Presentation
The three games and the extra content are all slickly presented. The story is great, and the characters are some of the most memorable in RPG history.
7.0 Graphics
Even with the graphical overhaul, Final Fantasy IV looks old. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. This is certainly more desirable than the DS remake’s graphical look.
10 Sound
Final Fantasy IV’s soundtrack is one of the most iconic in gaming history, and for good reason. It puts other soundtracks to shame to this very day.
8.0 Gameplay
If classic JRPG mechanics are your thing, you’ll love Final Fantasy IV. If not, well... you probably won’t.
10 Lasting Appeal
If you love Final Fantasy IV, you’re going to get lost in the amount of content The Complete Collection contains. Expect to spend at least 60 or 70 hours seeing everything, if not more.

Cool, I have this on pre-order. SE are making it very easy for me to play through all their FF games having started with X, and this looks exciting, though I do have a huge PSP backlog to get through

A 9? From both IGN AND Eurogamer? REALLY?

Most characters in the game are of Final Fantasy's weakest, the story is boring, the music has been far surpassed by later FF's, the battle system blows, and its only saviors are fine style and a tough difficulty.

I want the same treatment for FF VI, it's far better. IV is a 6.5/10.
