Hey man.  A good portion of society cares for animals more then they do other people.

Maybe because at least those bastards are talented basketball players, while this guy has no reedeming qualitites.

if we are just talking about their jobs then this guy definitely wins.  training guide dogs is definitely better than someone who just plays with balls all day.

There are counter examples, such as OJ Simpson.

OJ Simpson actually had a lot of people cheering his aquittal in the murder case.

hes been training dogs to help blind people for over thirty years.  if he was training them all to be violent towards cats then it certainly would have come out sooner.   these were likely his personal dogs.

Eh, re-reading it... he somehow thinks it's still consensual even though he realizes she thinks it wasn't.
