I suppose if it means they can launch at $250 it could be worth not having it.

With the Wii, the idea was that the extra fees were not worth it when most household already had 4 or more DVD players.  

 

I don't full accept this Blu-ray rumor (either as a game medium or as a not movie format) simply because other means are typically under Nintendo's employ or the same factor with Wii and the ubiquity of DVD players does not apply to Bly-ray players (it is no where near the same level of ubiquity as DVD was).

Which is a distinct possiblity.  The 3DS uses them with up to 8 GB of capacity.  With falling flash memory prices, I don't see why the N6 couldn't use 16 or even 32 GB flash RAM carts.

I think blu ray makes sense if they are making a next gen console. One assumes that they will then be making games of current size if not greater so it would clearly prove useful. Xbox may also do this. I suspect neither Nintendo, MS or Sony will make the next gen consoles movie playback  considering blueray movie sales havent really taken off and are a fraction of normal dvd.

Probably saves them a few cents per each unit due to lower royalties to patent owners.

 

Anyway it makes sense if Nintendo aims for full hd @30 fps as X360 clearly shows DVD has not enough space for current gen.

Said on IGN its aparently a bit more power and a ps3 of 360 because nintendo want to "re capture the hardcore market"... if there try to do that by improving graphics then there fucked xD ps4 and 720 are oing to be absalute power houses is epic are correct with there predictions (they where last gen)

I doubt the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft will be much more powerful than their current systems.  It certainly won't be the same as the jump we saw from PS2 and Xbox to PS3 and X360.  Not even close.

Epic would beg to differ with you ^^ and considering so far all there graphics based predictions have come true i trust them :P 

they released a tech demo of the unreal engine 4 and how they belive it will look on ps4 / 720. lest just say it was much larger jump than ps2 to 360 xD
