Nintendo has always been a 5/6 year cycle console company. They have released powerful consoles before (Gamecube) which in my opinion was not a hot seller due to the PS2's DVD playback. And if the rumors are true about Nintendo showing this to western publishers already then you bet they're serious about third party support. I for one can't wait for Nintendos next console and welcome it with open arms. :)

Also, as mentioned before Nintendo is still supporting the DS: bringing Solatorabo to Europe; come on NOA!, the new Kirby DS game, etc. We still have Kirby Wii, Rhythm Heaven Wii, DQ X, Zelda SS and hopefully Lost Story, Xenoblade in the west.

I see Nintendo supporting the Wii all they way up to the release of the Wii's succesor.

DVD playback only worked for the PS2's first year. Killer apps kept it selling from then, and the GC didn't have any.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Yeah, Wii is definitely reaching the very last loop of the rollercoaster. That loop is gonna be awsome though.

I'm quite skeptical of the rumors. Reggie has repeatedly reinforced that the Wii's successor is going to have to add something besides just an upgrade to HD and better online capabilities. Plus the 3DS just came out so they'd be better off focusing on it instead of revealing that would just steal its thunder. We're probably not going to hear of a Wii successor until next year at the earliest

True. SMG 1/2 alone eclipses Nintendos first party efforts on the GC. In my opinion Wii>SNES>NES>N64>GC.

And in terms of sales, New Super Mario Bros Wii might have been a better killer app than DVD playback had it been on the GC.

One can only dream what could of been had Nintendo released a Mario 2D side scroller for the GC. Speaking of 2D side scroller.... Nintendo where's my 2D Metroid! Pretty please!

While I do  believe the Wii's successor will be announced at E3, It's wise never to listen to rumours
