You have to remember VAT is included in the sales prices he gave, whereas sales tax isn't on the US prices (right?)
Just so you guys know, the PS3 launched in the UK at £425, which is close to $700 in the US.
We're used to being screwed on the prices in the UK

Yes. The 3DS would be $300 if it had a 20% tax included in the price. Still a bit cheaper, but it narrows the gap.
