Thanks for that. Very useful, though I'm a little saddened that it's proving difficult for people to come up with 10 titles for each. Is the situation that bad on 360 in terms of true exclusives, or is it just that people haven't been playing all the games?

I don't understand why a game needs to be a true exclusive for you to want to buy it or play it. Like Gears of war is a mess on the PC and it has no 2 player coop. Without that, the game isn't half as good on the PC...

If you read the OP I asked for a top 10 of each, if possible, so, yes, a seperate list for XBLA would be marvellous if you can make one, especially as you've added some commentary (very useful -- thanks!).

As for the list, it's exactly what I was looking for (well, excepting the inclusion of a few multi-plats, but that's completely understandable if you didn't read the OP fully). I already own Bayonetta, Mass Effect, Gears 1, and Condemned, but the rest look very good. Crackdown is a definite from what I read, as is Halo Wars, and several people have told me EDF2017 is a must. Is there any reason why? I know nothing about it. What sort of game is it?

This should give you the idea of what kind of game EDF2017 is. Uniquely cheesy, gameplay driven action game.

My Top Retail -

1. Alan Wake

2. Gears of War 2

3. Dead or Alive 4

4. Project Gotham Racing 4

5. Halo: Reach

6. Perfect Dark Zero

7. Halo 3: ODST

I don't have any others that aren't also on PC (Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Mass Effect)

My Top XBLA -

1. Shadow Complex

2. Limbo

Again, same problem as above. Others are either also on PC or PSN.

Is the situation that bad on 360 in terms of true exclusives, or is it just that people haven't been playing all the games?

I think it's a little bit of both. I've played pretty much all the 360 exclusive and console exclusive titles, I just down own them all. In terms of true exclusives, they have a good amount, but some of them are from the rearly days of the 360 and may not work in a Top 10.

Fair enough. Makes sense, I suppose.

I asked for true exclusives because I have a gaming PC and PS3 already, and have bought almost all the multiplats available already.

I have Gears on PC, for example, and contrary to your assessment, I didn't find it to be a mess at all. In fact, your review bares no resemblance to what I've played. It looks brilliant on PC (running at 1080p on my TV at home), has more levels (5 extra chapters at the beginning of the Final Act that are missing on 360 -- I just checked as I wasn't sure what the situation was), more multi-player maps, a map editor, has the same Live achievements (as far as I'm aware), and runs as smooth as silk. And, yes, it has co-op play. It's a joy, in fact. And I played it on the 360's pad (I found it better than mouse and keyboard for the game, even though M&K were more accurate). In short: I already have Gears, and the better version (for what little that's worth).

Having said all that, I do not have Gears 2. And that is something worth having. I'll certainly be giving that a go! That's why I was asking for exclusives. I'm a pretty heavy gamer. I already have most of the multi-plats. I'm now looking for all the good games I missed.

Well, that looks fun! I'll be getting that, especially as it'll be so cheap, now. Thanks. :)

So, if I cut out the games I have (Portal, Pac-Man, and Braid), that's still a damn fine list. Thanks for that! It's really appreciated. In particular, I'd completely forgotten about the Castlevania game. I'll be picking that up, I think.

I haven't played 10 exclusive 360 games......extremely weird.

1) Gears of War

2) Fable 2

3) Halo 3

4) Gears of War 2

5) Fable 3

6) Crackdown

7) Perfect Dark Zero (<-Hate this game)

That's it...well this list obviously excludes Mass effect series and left 4 Dead series.

Sorry what I meant is that GEars of War has no local coop on PC.

Also the game was a mess on PC for many months after it came out...largely thanks to Games for Windows live.

Microsofts own knwledgebase article for Gears troubleshooting is quite large due to this - http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_gearswars_master

I never knew any of that. Thanks. :D It seems I bought Gears long after the issues, so they never affected me. As for the local co-op: yup, that's certainly true (as far as I remember, I've not played it for about 9 months), but I feel all the other positives kinda make up for that. :D

Also, yes, Games for Windows Live was, and still kinda is, a bit of a pointless mess. I really wish they'd done something decent with it.
