you do realize that Sony puts out more games than microsoft and nintendo right?

I thought that Sony has had a good number of first party games to come out, especially this year. I'm not saying they were all good, but there has been a good number. Motorstorm, Lair, Resistance, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgment, and some PSN games. Save for Lair, I'd play the rest of these games.
And we've also got to understand that in interviews, you can read Jack Tretton saying that this year's primary focus was on the hardware and getting the price down, and now that they have it down to a managable price, the software SHOULD follow. IDK if that is true, but that's all we can go on for now. So we'll see next year if this promise holds true, but from the looks of it, Sony does have a lot of exclusive, first party content hitting the system.

Exactly what I was going to say.
People, I agree Sony has some problems. But not investing enough money in their games and/or not making enough games isn't one of those problems.
Sony produces a ton of games -- as Outlaw said, more than either Nintendo or MS.

Agree! More JRPG and Platform games!!! Enough with FPS already, Ha Ha Ha! Warhawk is extremely fun though.

Cellius is 1st party and headed by Kutaragi. |
Is Cellius considered as 1st party or 3rd party? It is co-founded by Sony (49%) and Namco (51%).
Edit: Read the post by Zuhyc after I made this post. So Cellius is better considered as 2nd party. But I remember that Cellius will also develop games for mobile phones and PC. That is somewhat different from the traditional 2nd party developer.

I think to do this they need to set themselves apart from 360, which has many of the same games as PS3 but many of its own exclusives such as Gears of war, Halo and many others. The PS3 needs more games like Resistance fall of man, warhawk and motorstorm. So I think they need more first party games to set themselves apart from the competition. The PS3 is a great console with tonnes of potential that I would hate to see go to waste on multiplatform games available on every other console. Also, more sixaxis I say, more Any opinions on sonys first party games? |
PS3 is doing fine, and they have a lot coming out soon. You should be posting this in the Microsoft discussion because all they have is Halo and Gears of War.
Sony has a huge amount of first party studios. Many of them have made alot of recognized franchises through time. Syphon filter, Wipeout, Medievil, twisted Metal, God of War, Gran Turismo, ICO games, Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot, jak & Daxter etc. etc.
Sony does rely on their first party game studios, and they will be handing out more through time.
Contrary to Microsoft who hasn't established nearly as many first party franchise really, besides Halo, Fable, PGR & perhaps Forza. Besides what on earth makes Microsoft sell their internal studios? wtf
Since microsoft isn't entirely succesfull on that part, they feel obligated to go to high profile studios and buy out exclusivity. Microsoft depends on their exclusives. They aren't really providing anything magnificient from their own internal studios.
The cellius project is at least 3 games, I did a google search and went to images and
there was a japanese magazine that showed off 3 different games, so add that to the sony exclusives. Also what rakuza said is correct. MS first party, minus halo and fable, are not that great. They go to big developers with alot of money and ask for an exclusive game. IMO its a low way to do buisiness, but apperently it works.
