yes, in a way,

but if the PS3 doesn't have the Xbox360/PC games
then these games become exclusive to the Xbox360, and "could" sell the console.
Just look at Bioshock or the next Civilisation.

I believe in 4 things :

1/ these PC games, whatever they are good or not, will not sell the Xbox360
(because it is supposed to be a console, not a PC)
It is why I believe MS will lake of TRUE exclusive games soon ...

2/ a part of these games will be ported to PS3 too becasue the user base is significant particularly in PAL.

3/ PS3 had first party title in 2007, but they were not amazing.
only Unchartred succeed to go beyond 90% on gameranking.
AND they were ONLY NEW IP !
(except Ratchet a casual game release on a 500$ console !!!!!!!!)

4/ I think the main problem is not the quantity
it is not even the quality
it is the DELAY
just look at LBP/KZ2/MGS4//GT5 ...

MGS4 will do much worse than FFXIII, Gran Turismo 5 and GTAIV... definitely it's way to early to talk about whole gen... especially before games like God of War 3, Killzone 2, Resident evil 5 etc.  Maybe you didn't realise but this gen has just started...

These are some Big names. Almost EVERY game is AA or just a GREAT GAME.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

The first and second MGS games sold around 5.5 million copies.  The PS3 install base is nowhere near large enough to generate sales of that magnitude.

MGS4 is not going to be released soon its going to be released 2008 Q2-Q3. Bigger userbase then and it might have legs or come with the console later. How big userbase had PS1/PS2 when the first games came out?

1st party games are on their way from Sony, most of them big productions. We'll see them, but as always; the best games take the longest to make...
