Have you ever played Goldeneye, Half-life, or Bioshock? They are awesome. I have to agree with you on COD though, it boggles my mind how people keep buying that every year. I bought COD 4 five months ago, and hated it.
Try Gamefly for a month and get another one free!
RPGs!!!!!! JRPGs especially. The only turn-based game I can stand is Pokemon, because to me it actually makes sense in those games because you're the trainer having to tell the Pokemon what you want it to do. But otherwise, it's just annoying that you have to wait to attack. As far as WRPGs like Fallout or Elder Scrolls, I guess I like a more linear story.
I picked racing. Specifically racing simulators. The closer it is to reality, the more boring it is for me. So I love stuff like Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart Wii, the one Need for Speed game I have was OK, and anything more realistic than that I don't even want to touch.
If I could pick another, it would be fighting games. The more technical they are, the more I dislike them. I just want to pick up the game and have fun, not memorize a bunch of crap.

I just found my new favorite genre!!!
FPS, RTS, Simulators, Sports, WRPGs, "Family" games.
I also have a hard time enjoying most western developed titles, they usually feel boring or "soulless" to me... there are a few exceptions though.
I voted for Shooters because they're kind of annoying to me this gen... I hope Japanese titles become as special and famous as they used to be to the consumer during previous gens when next gen consoles arrive.

Oh I think you'd love it even though it's a lot more fun in real life.
@jbaum try KHs or any other action RPG, the whole turn based system is removed from those games
