Forums - Microsoft - Good arguments in favor of the 360 over PS3?

I currently own a PS3 but I am interested in finally getting an Xbox 360. I have been wanting one since december 2010, but as the PS3 kept getting new good games I kept delaying the purchase.

Now however my friends and brother say it is not a good move to purchase the 360 because it does not have as many exclusive games and I don't like shooters and not interested in Kinect (no room). And my best friends are on PSN.

I'd like the 360 for a few games, mostly XBLA downloadables and a few multiplatforms that are cooler on the 360 (such as Bayonettta, but my friends will call me crazy for buying a new system because of graphical nitpicks in a few games). I'd like to collect some Achievements too but I'm not crazy about it.

So what do you think, should I get the 360 this late the generation, even though my 'main' console will probably be the PS3? What would be good arguments about it? I know it's kind of stupid to justify my purchase to friends and brother but it's weird to say just 'because I wanted it'.

There will be price cuts this year, then you can get it for gears of war 3.

Honestly I'd check to see which of those XBLA downloads are also on PC for cheaper. Things like Super Meat Boy are on steam right now for half price and have better features on PC. Don't get me wrong I love my 360, but if you don't like shooters and all your friends are on PSN it really is a tough sell. I'd just get a cheap second hand one to get it out of your system if it's really bugging you.

Because of the following:

Fables

Forza's

Great XBLA exclusives like Limbo

The Xbox 360 controller (well this one is really just my opinion)

Other great Xbox 360 exclusives

You get to be my friend on Xbox live which is probably the best reason to get a 360 :P

BTW trust me having both consoles is absolutely fantastic...anybody who just owns 1 of the HD consoles is missing out IMO.

I'd say that "just because I want one" beats "my friends and brother will think I'm crazy if I get one" any day of the week. I really think you should concern yourself with growing a proper set of nuts and telling both your friends and brother to fuck off if they give you shit.

Since you pointed out that you don't like shotters, maybe you could go into more detail about what genres you do like in order to get better suggestions.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Reasons for you to get a 360?

Can't think of a damn thing.

It is worth it to get one. You can grab exclusives for it and then if you want to play games with your friends that are multiplat you can pick them up for your PS3.

Thanks for the replies.

@yo_john117: thanks if I indeed get one I'll look you up. :)

@kowenichi: Yes, Lost Odyssey was the RPG I heard about and had forgotten the name, and I really like JRPGS.

@toadslayer: I like JRPGs, action RPGs, fighting, beat'em up, strategy, some action games with RPG elements.

I'm a great fan of Virtua Fighter, I know the PS3 version does not have online, does anyone know if the 360 server still working?

buy a wii and a 3DS!! =D

There are plenty of reasons to get a 360. Since you don't like shooters all try to exclude them.

Plenty of exclusive like ME1, Fable 2&3, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Too Human( I really enjoyed it), Halo Wars, Banjo and Kazooie N&B, Forza 2-3, Alan Wake, Crackdown 1&2, DOA4, Infinity Undiscovered, Kameo, the last reminent, tales of vesperia, etc.

Some other reasons to get an xbox would be XBLA, XBL, the controller, some games play better on the 360(just like some play better on ps3).

I would wait to get one at the end of the year because there will probably be a price cut along with some holiday bundle.
