Forums - Sales - Americas UP!

Very good american launch for 3DS, but, basing ourselves on preliminary and preorder data, wasn't it expected to sell even more? Anyhow, excellent sales compared to EMEAA, less compared to Japan, but we know the latter is portable land, it would have been impossible to match its sales:population ratio.

3DS SW: despite a tie ratio slightly lower than in EMEAA for launch week, absolute value is very good, and its 3 biggest titles rank a lot higher at launch, getting positions #2,4 and 6 compared to #7,8 and 13.

Maybe Nintendo wants to carefully educate us, so it showed us in Japan and America how a portable launch should be done, and in EMEAA how it shouldn't.

Good PS3, the only one dropping less than 10% the week of 3DS launch.

Kinect still outselling Balance Board by a decent margin, while it doesn't anymore in EMEAA.

Who believes GT5 sold only 4,264 this week? I don't... the next PD update will be interesting.

Like I've been telling you guys before the game was even released. It's not going to make it to 10 million. Definitely not going to outsell GT3 or GT4. It will need another bundle for it to have any chance of reaching those numbers.

Who said GT5 will outsell GT3? That's impossible... GT4 is another discussion.

I will love to make a new thread "GT5 ONLY SELLS THROUGH HUGE ADJUSTMENTS" soon... 4,246 in Americas this week was what I needed to know GT is UNDERTRACKED here.

I work in gaming retail and I can assure you GT5 is selling pretty horribly at this point in America.  No idea about WW but in America its sales have completly flatlined.  Kinda similar situation with LittleBigPlanet 2.  I've been somewhat worried that the immense PS3 lineup along with all the steller 3rd party games this year would cause a cannabalization of sales.  I really do think if there weren't so many games coming out at once sales would be better.

Killzone 3 though continues to impress me with its legs.

Crisis 2 is hopefully undertracked. And the Kinect and X360 hopefully undertracked, or else we're in big trouble.

Also it's hard for me to believe the Wii sold as good as the X360.

Its hard for me to believe kinect and the 360 are undertracked. There has been no good release of games in a while, and no exclusives in months

Yeah and yet they both were selling like hot cakes up until February (according to both NPD and VGC). And all of a sudden they're tanking. Doesn't make sense.

Besides, there's been several great multiplatforms released this year, more than usual. Ded Space2, Two Worlds 2, DA2, Bulletstorm, Crisis 2 etc.

If this keeps up infamous 2 launch will probably boost PS3 upwards of the 360 in the US....but its only slight possibility.

Good to see Ghost Recon in the top 40 for 3DS and great sales for Street Fighter as well. We want third party games to sell, we don't want a Wii situation :S

Also this means that launch aligned, the 3DS sold a total of:

Japan: 374,164

 EMEAA: 346,021

US: 672,054

AUS: 31,271

TOTAL: 1.42 Million in week one

Do you have the week one of another console?

All I can find right now is that the Nintendo DS sold about 500k week one in the US market. It was released on November 24th for $149.99. So the 3DS beat the DS even though the original was released in the middle of the holiday season for $100 less. You'd expect it to beat it of course but it's still worthwhile noting the performance of each system in terms of the date and price.

Edit: Also Australia, "19,191 units were sold from Thursday 24 February to close of business Sunday 27 February."

Also, Australia:

DS - $199.95, sales of 19,191

3DS - $300 - 349.95 (depending where you bought it from) sales of 31,271

what the shit is going on with the formatting????

Wait a minute. WTH? I thought the Australian launch was on April 3rd.

That was the kinect effect, and there were new games out for it. But now, where are the games? So i does make sense. MS is losing big on this one by having a really low ammount of exclusives. Imagine if the ps3 had no games in 2009, the gap would be at 6 million right now lol.

Like i said, it was kinect that carried the 360 all of winter, but now that kinect has a very low amount of games it is bound to die down. (which is happening now).

Well, at least I agree that Kinect is dying lol.

Not sure if I trust that number, I predicted 400,000 for 3DS, anyway Wii adjusted down, still it beats my prediction.  Let's see what E3 brings.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

imo,

Thank goodness it is. I want kinect to die faster than it made a million sales (which was REAALLY fast unfortunatly). Controllerless gaming is my worst enemy (next the BEAST in inFAMOUS)
