With everything it does, Sony should launch in the US first. I caters to every type of gamer possible, plus the HD display.

Europe should be next, but I would try to get the two launches as close together as possible. Here's my personal (opinioned) breakdown of launch for the NGP.

December 10th, 2011 - US launch - 750,000 units for first two weeks.

February 5th, 2012 - UK launch - 400,000 units first two weeks.

February 20th, 2012 - Europe launch - 700,000 first two weeks.

April 27th, 2012 - Japan launch - 600,000 units first two weeks.

Man im doubting it does that good out the gate

Well like I pointed out, it caters to every possible play style and consumer.

Playstation Suite and Android. New content always available.

North American gamers will eat up a true Uncharted, Killzone and Resistance.

Japan will get Monster Hunter, Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy and Yakuza games. I also see Sony making a strong push to bring Dragon Quest to the system.

Europe will eat up a similar list as the North American list.

Think about it:

Uncharted, Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo, Resistance, Killzone, Motorstorm and Socom heading to this platform, plus Android content. This will help sales.

I believe the Japan numbers are spot on. I'm not going to base my North American and Europe off of how the PSP did or is doing. Mainly because Sony has so much experience now and they are really looking at making the NGP as open software wise as possible.

But are those games confirmed for launch? if they are then yea maybe

Monster Hunter isn't even a new monster hunter they were showing off how Monster Hunter Portable 3rd played on NGP via PSN download service so you can play your old PSP titles -_-

Monster Hunter dominates on the PSP and I see it happening again on NGP. I will not doubt the power of Monster Hunter and a Sony handheld.

And Monster Hunter was PSP handheld-exclusive. IF any MH-3D hits the 3DS (it will happen imho) than everyone has the choice between 3D-monsters on 3DS and HD-monsters on the NGP.

That would definetely split the MH-portable market and i wouldn't be surprised if 3D monsters sell better.

hmm if you played monster hunter you will see that there are some issues that only the ngp is able cover, for example the camera.

on the 3ds the ONLY thing that changes is 3D,monster hunter 3rd all over again... on the NGP on the other hand MH will be WAY more accessible. And of curse we have to see what online possibilitys the NGP brings, I mean if 3g is available in whole japan... guess what is going to make an impact :D

And the 2nd display with touchscreen? Of course this can be used instead of the 2nd stick on NGP.

3g? i don't know if you have any idea what you're talking about. But one thing is 4sure, multiplayer will be possible with 3DS and NGP via Wifi and Wifi-only. I can't see that working with 3g.

Accessible? controls, or what? It's obv the other way around, if we compare DA to touchscreen and stick based.

An impact? please...

Wow, I was quoted quite a bit.

Anyway, Monster Hunter games have appeared on other platforms (Wii and 360 both have recent releases in the franchise), but they haven't done anywhere near the success the franchise has found on the PSP. I fully believe that success will carry over to a new Sony platform.

Yea but think about this the first monster hunter on wii sold more than the first monster hunter on psp. But we could leave that to its growing popularity regardless of platform. But yea i dont expect it to sell better on the 3ds but i think a 3ds aqnd ngp version could co-exist.

Should we compare handheld to console sales here?

MH3 on Wii did better than any MH on PS2 or on any other console (ok, it's just XB360 and we know M$ success in Japan).

It could definetely co-exist on 3DS and NGP, but i can't see any reason why MH on NGP should sell better. 3DS will be on the market for a full year until NGP is released, so i can clearly see advantages for the 3DS version cause of the bigger install base. Adding the higher price point of NGP (any doubts here?) and the  absence of 3D, i don't know. The argument that MH was released on the PSP, the predecessor of the NGP is more or less pointless imo. Look at SNES and games on successor N64 vs newby PS to get a clue what happened to successors of games on another platform.

But believing is stronger than reasoning here, since we don't know anything about MH3D or MH on NGP. IMO, Advantage for 3DS cause of the little hint we have about MH3D. can't wait for capcoms statement.

North America would probably be the wisest choice for sony. The playstation brand is still enough to entice european customers. North American success will likely depend on word of mouth. A holiday release will obviously result in bigger than normal sales, and those people are the ones who will be showing it off to their friends enticing them to buy it. Basically the sony brand is weakest in north america compared to its competition so the NGP needs to open with a bang there or it will likely suffer horrible sales throughout the noneholiday months, while sony is currently neck and neck with nintendo in Japan and Europe so the ngp should sell well there regardless.

Either way I won't be getting it unless the bigger titles comeout and they live up to their hype.

The rumors are saying the NGP will be the same price as the 3DS with the option of a higher price for the 3G model.

Android, PlayStation Suite, PlayStation Store, new UI, killer franchises, HD, two analog sticks, 3G (in the higher priced model), Track pad, Touchscreen, PS3 direct ports (MGS 4) and trophies.

3DS, same formula Nintendo has milked since the SNES. It worked with the Wii because the world economy crashed and the Wii was such a piece of crap system it was able to be sold at $250 and had a different style controller.

The NGP plays to every possible style of play. Buttons, touch, motion, augmented reality and analog sticks.

Yeah, 3DS sucks.

Yeah...

That statement and the "Banned till 8th April" made me laugh.

For the record, i was not the tattletale and wanted to dicuss about possible MH sales on 3DS and NGP until you freaked out. IMO you're a little bit too emotional in this thing, but i like that better than casualness. Nevertheless i predict sales of MH-3DS > MH-NGP, regardless of your NGP preferences.

I'm vocal, passionate and honest in my opinion. I don't hate any company.

But I do like PlayStation more, but I've spent time with the 3DS and right now it's just not what I'm looking for. Over time that might change. Happened for the Wii, 360 and DS for me.

Also I wasn't meaning to come off as "emotional", just stating my opinion.
