It's just people who can't understand that Metroid Prime is not and was never meant to be a shooter, that grind my gears.

Amen to that.  I was just listening to IGN's NVC the other day and heard that Claiborn guy reiterate, with his insistent tone, that it's a first person shooter.  Probably thinks Portal is too... lol, so misguided.

On topic:  Metroid Prime Trilogy (LOVE the control with the Wii remote!), both Galaxies, Mario Kart, Punch Out, Zak and Wiki, both No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, Smash Bros Brawl, and of course, Twilight Princess.

NSMB is ok, but I'd recommend Super Mario World on the VC before it, and DKCR just has control issues that I HATE!  I would personally choose Wario Land Shake It over these two games, despite the annoying remote shaking required (love the music), but you may want to try it out first.

@anatabus  you think the best thing on Wii is a port of a port?? You must have a really low regards for the Wii

Huh? It is the ninth highest rated game on wii at metacritic. It is an excellent game. I don't care if a game is a port or exclusive.

@Bristow9091

there are many games in different genres that can be recommended.

The best thing for me about the Wii is the amount of original experiences with new types of gameplay on the system.

If you update your game library it'll be easier to recommend games based on your taste

At this point, all the games I would list have been suggested. So i'm just going to list my 10 favorite Wii games in order, and they all come highly reccomended.

1. Super Mario Galaxy

2. Zelda: Twilight Princess

3. Mario Kart Wii

4. Wii Sports Resort

5. Super Mario Galaxy 2

6. New Super Mario Bros. Wii

7. Kirby's Epic Yarn

8. Monster Hunter Tri

9. Goldeneye

10. Donkey Kong Country Returns

I also think Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Punch-Out!!, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and Little King's Story are all very worth a purchase, but maybe at a discounted price.

Yeah but my game library is huge and it'd take forever haha.

Question: People have been recommending Zak and Wiki, I've heard good and bad things about it, but don't know much about the game itself, except you're some sort of pirate(s)? Anyone care to elaborate without spoilers? :P

It's fundamentally a point and click game, but you control your character on screen as well.  Each level is like a puzzle and you will make mistakes and die (or forfeit) a lot.  But learning what to do and in what order is part of the appeal, and there are ways to avoid having to do the entire level over again, so that you can start again right at the spot you made the mistake.

Normally I'd say to just check it out on Youtube, but I recommend against that in this case, since watching the game being played would result in spoilers.  Right now it's about $35 on Amazon brand new but if you can possibly find it used somewhere for about $20 I'd say pick it up.  Also it's a very Japanese-style game, which I love, but that might not be for everyone.

Did you own a Gamecube?

If not, then Paper Mario TTYD and Super Mario Sunshine.

So...made any decisions yet? You certainly have much to catch up on

Actually yes I have, here's what I'll be buying for sure:

Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Mario Kart Wii

Monster Hunter Tri

Madworld (I've already bought this, it'll be here tomorrow)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Sonic Colours

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

That's my 100% confirmed list that I'll be buying, if anyone would like to recommend games based on this list please do so.

That's a long list, if you wanted those 12 games, why didn't you get a Wii before?

Also, I still say Okami definitely. And Epic Mickey. And of course Xenoblade, TLS etc. when they come out!

But you're done for now until 2014 anyway

First of all, awesome list! and congratulations on getting a(nother) Wii

If you still have any money left over from all those, you will probably like No More Heroes 2 as it's similar to Madworld but crazier

Also: get Little King's Story if you enjoy strategy RPGs. You won't regret it.

Sonic Colors --> Kirby's Epic Yarn, Klonoa, Donkey Kong Country Returns (or you may be able to find NPC Jungle Beat for cheap if you didn't catch it on gamecube)

You might like De Blob 1 or 2. the first is definitely cheap by now.

And I'd also like to take this opportunity to give a shameless plug to one of my favorites this gen. Endless Ocean Blue World! It's very slow paced, but beautiful and immersive as hell! Seriously, this is the future of games!
