eh, really I couldn't care either way. I expect them to just hack the PSN, drop prices, and maybe block the admins forcing the network division to have to hack their own service to change things back.

It will be an epic knockout punch either way. Just one will be a sucker punch that leads to the knockout, and the other will be a brutal punch straight to the nose with brass knuckles.

i'm quickly learning you are a very very scary person.  the posts i've seen you make lately really scare the hell out of me.

I believe and support certain things, Freedom of Information, Civil Rights, and Freedom of Property are three. Sony is violating all three and should be stopped. And the justice system really can't be trusted as its easily bought out and unjust. Its the people who need to stand up for their rights.

what total bullshit, and what's worse is you actuallly believe this shit

What bullshit?

I have every right to modify the products I purchase.

I have every right to read, disclose, and have access to information.

I have every right to voice my opinion and take action over things I consider violations of my rights.

Okay I feel some people need help knowing what a hacker is and what context GeoHot is in, what group Pirates are in, and what group Anon is in...

GeoHot is apart of the Hacker (hobbyist) group, he hacks commercial products to make them open, no he does NOT make piracy programs for these devices, there is a reason he's so famous before this whole PS3 hacking fiasco and theres a reason he's never been brought to trail before now... because there is no law against making a product open to be modified, it's your property you can do what you want with it.

Anon fit in the first two definitions, they support free information on being able to modify their own products, this also does NOT mean piracy, this means the ability to own a product and put your own homebrew applications on it, homebrew is not pirated software as it is made by everyday people and not corporations.

Pirates, what they are are exactly what their name implies, they're using a product they didn't pay for and downloaded from shady sites online, 90% of these people are NOT hackers, they wouldn't know the first thing about hacking, they simply sit there and wait for the other 10% that make programs for pirating software to release their info and follow guides online, they wouldn't know the first thing about breaking into a website nor breaking into a high security system, SEE Gamecube never had a working emulator the entire time Gamecube was out and PS3 was the most secure system against anyone breaking in until it caught the attention of real hackers (Media hacker/hobbyist) that Sony took out apart of the system people paid good money to have.

Good read, but sadly most people will ignore it and stick to the "Hackers are sons of Satan and should be exterminated in the name of *insert company name here*"...

OT:

I don't know much about this group but I hope they don't do something "extreme" as that would just attract even more fanatics to the anti-hacker crusade. *sigh* I wish Sony had aimed their guns at the people who actually do hack for the sake of enabling piracy and cheating, instead of going trying to blow up the "general store"...

What do you think they can possibly do?

Delete files etc... they are hackers, most business are run mostly on digital systems. That is what they did to the security firm.

How is deleting files gonna damage Sony unless they access the PSN which they have 0 chance of doing? I was right, all they did was hack a web site. Yeah...we should really except Sony going bankrupt now and PSN shutting down...MIGHTY HACKERS (AKA 14 year old basment dwellwers) FOR JUSTICE AND CONZUMA RIGHTS !!!!!!

I don't agree with Sony's actions but Anonymous are nothing more than children .  Sure, they can screw stuff up but they aren't any better than the people they attack.  It's like they try to come off as Batman but they really come off as an eight year old with a cheap cape yelling as loud as he can.

Well. Consider how Sony's stance on trampling consumers' rights and they have the money to sway the court.

I'd say, time to play dirty.

My rights are also a closed and fair network as well as funding the game industry by buying its games...

No, that is your option to do that. You definitely should have the right to do whatever you want with your hardware. Whether it be play by someone's rules, or play by your own, its your choice.

If this is a serious attempt from a group in Anon, there's going to be a lot of mess at Sony, some fans are going to be pissed most likely, and well... there's not anything Sony or their fans can do about it.

I'm kinda ignorant to this hacking crap...  What can they possibly do to sony, and should I be worried? lol

Well in the past they've taken down entire sites, posted the information of those that use the site for all the world to see, they've destroyed valuable information they find on these servers that if not backed up will be lost forever, and if it is backed up it better not be online where they can find it or they might target that as well.

Basically if they could find the keys to the Playstation Network for example... they would, and they would bring it down if they felt the need to do so, but knowing their past antics they'd just set all the prices on PSN to zero and let the people on PSN do the rest just for the lulz

If they do that, I so hope I am informed.

I dont really like whats going on, but I sure wouldnt mind everything being free on ps store lol

The only detractor from your post ssj12 is that you arent taking into consideration how this affects other users, extremely short sighted and the ultimate selfishness.  I forgot that it was alright to hack the shit out of your ps3 so that certain games are unplayable online, threats of security breaches that threaten to obtain critical user information such as cc info amongst other things.  Its okay if you never leak this shit on the internet, but when you supply it to thousands of individuals that becomes an issue.

you have the right to your own property but so does eveyone else including corporate entities like sony.  your me-first mentality is just selfish and short sided as things aren't as black and white as you'd like to believe.

like it or not information can count as property in our society.  patents and copywrites are at the fundation of our society.  they were put in place because when society tried to function without all progress became "company secrets" and entire sections of techological advancement was lost when the secret keeper died hamstrining the overall advancement of society.

you can have any opinion you want and express it as freely as you want to but taking action like what is being threaten here is a violation of other people's/entities right and just another example of how your viewpoints are selfish, short-sided, and very very dangerous.  i have a difference of opinion with you but i'm not going to start making threats and especially not following through on threats against you or your family.  it is just plain wrong.

Then again, I dont know why I even bothered trying to reason with you, you are one of the most narrow-minded individuals Ive ever known.
