Halo Reach on legendary...thats all I will say lol.

I solo'd it and it was pretty easy, except when I was spawn trapped by a Skirmisher  with the assist rifle...

Yeah i'm not saying that is was ridiculously hard but that the AI are really smart.

Killzone AI is one of the best on the market for FPS.

For the AI improved a lot.

From what I understand, Milo & Kate is one project that seems to improve AI a lot.

also the ai in cod are smart, on veteran difficulty they cook grenades. yes they do many stupid things. but atleast they cook grenades.

And you don't suppose it's possible to... script them to cook grenades in certain situations? It's not smart, it pretty basic actually.

That's what any AI is : doing certain things on certain situations, do you think it's some kind of magic?

Yeah, well, if the AI can already throw grenades, adding a cooking feature shouldn't be very hard. Point is, cooking grenades is a minor improvement over actually being able to throw grenades. If you think AI's ability to cook grenades is a sign of strong AI, I'd say you're wrong.

F.E.A.R. still has the best AI in any action game I played.

so what you expect ai to have aritificial intelligence?

the ai cooked the grenade threw it and killed me with it. isnt that an improvement over past gen games?

I don't think AI matters THAT much. Games like Uncharted and Mass Effect have fairly poor AI, but you don't really notice it most of the time, because the settings and characters are interesting

It matters more in games like Killzone and CoD (the latter of which doesn't really do enough), but with multiplayer so important to so many consumers, why invest in AI?

I think developers are focusing too much on making enemies look realistic instead of making them behave realistic. Studios can brag about life-likeness all they want but they will never come close until they step up on the AI department.

You really can't blame them though, as all that the gaming community seems to care about is the amount of graphix. How many times have we seen AI comparisons?

AI hasn't improved for the longest time.

What's improved is the processing power that allows for more variety of AI, fooling you into thinking it's been improved.

actually ai did improve. in games such as in kz2 where they try to flank you.

That's nothing new in AI development, the AI in GoldenEye Wii does that.  When I was playing with the AI in Killzone 2 I left one guy alive to see how he would act, all he did was pop out miss with a few shots, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll to another cover, blind fire missing, roll, roll, roll... that's what I saw him doing, rolling, purposely poping his head out to give me a clear shot at him, and not being able to fire a gun... KZ2 works like most FPS games which is using wave after wave of baddies to create a wall of bullets, with the aiming improving as the difficulty goes up.

It's probably the most basic way to create AI really.
