Ninja gaiden reigns supreme

on a purely combat sense I agree, NG is the best H&S

could never get past the look of the main character to even try this game out

i see her and just think of some disgusting old cougar looking to prowl on teenage boys while wearing some prostitute clothing

I really enjoyed the combat system for Bayonetta. It was very smooth and responsive. It also had a nice variety of moves and combos. It was kind of mixture between Ninja Gaiden/Devil May Cry in that many combos were timing dependent while others were just alternating between the two attack buttons. Personally, I didn't much care for the boss fights. They kind of took away from the fast-paced nature of the game with QTEs and bosses flying out of combat range. The story was utter garbage though. It was the one thing that frustrated me on my first play-through. It is one of the first times where I seriously considered just skipping the story scences altogether.

nawwwwwwwwwwwwww

Second best to God of War if you cound presentation and story.

Bayonetta > God of War 3

Played and beat both.

thats opinions...everybody got one...

FF IX >>> FF VIII

played and beat both.

^^

What do those games have to do with this?

It's really starting to become laughable that every time I disagree with someones game preference they always have to involve FF8.

Cool thread and I might check out Baynoetta one day but speaking of hacknslash I'm stuck on Chapter 2 and the trials in God of War 3. I can't beat that snake woman and the two minotaurs.

I've thought of checking this out. But my brothers said there's no way I would like this because it's not my style >_>.(I sometimes listen to him) even though he liked it. And pretty much the only hack n' slash I like is ninja gaiden.

Yeah I loved it. It doesn't have mass appeal like God of War. Personally I thought Bayonetta took a big dump on God of War 3 in terms of gameplay and fun. GOW3 is one of those games I just dont get it seems. Everyone oos and aahs about the scale of the game. GOW2 was a waaaaay better game.

For me, comparing the hack and slash games:
Best GFX tech:  God of War series
Best GFX art: Bayonetta series
Best Story: God of War series
Best gameplay: Ninja Gaiden/Bayonetta
Most rewarding: Ninja Gaiden

...and I loved the crazy music in Bayonetta too :)

Only complaint against Bayonetta is the hardest mode isn't really that hard. Same for God of War. Ninja Gaiden's hard modes are of course from the devil.

Atleast to me, Its more like Devil May Cry than Ninja Gaiden. In Ninja Gaiden, there's more weight to your attacks, so once you commit to an attack, there is no cancelling it out. Bayonetta is more about fact paced action that requires you to attack and dodge right as the enemy attacks you. Also Ninja Gaiden is very heavy on blocking while Bayonetta is more about dodging. Once again, more like Devil May Cry.
