Doesn't matter what way you spin this because PS3 has not outsold the 360 so deal with it.

Me? Deal with it?

No. I'm just explaining the article... PS3 over 360 or 360 over PS3 not matter for me because I love PS3 anyway.

But the failure rate of 360 is bigger than PS3... that's a fact.

In the other thread that got locked I already pointed out that the 360 number is missing one quarter of its shipment data. What I didn't notice is that the same goes for the Wii. Only the PS3 has its calendar Q4 2010 data included. This sure is one credible analysis.

No. The numbers are not missing quarters... the numbers are active base.

Just active consoles count... broke consoles (RROD?) not count.

So makes sense PS3 was over 360 now... because the failure hate of PS3 is so much less than 360.

Using the VGC numbers for comparison:

PS3: 46.3m - 6.7% failure rate = 43.4m
360: 50.3m - 14.2% failure rate = 42.9m

Seems ok for me... 360 had a bigger failure rate with RROD and not everyone used the warranty.

Just remember, CONSOLES SHIPPED > CONSOLE SALES > ACTIVE USERS.

You are right, those numbers aren't shipment data.

However, your failure rate explanation doesn't make much sense either. There really is no reasonable way to arrive at a global active installed base number, it just seems like a way to fabricate some numbers that are more in line with SA's previous predictions.

I agree... but failure rate perfecty explain the numbers.

How many PS3 or 360 died and/or broked? I don't know, you don't know, nobody knows... I guess... so SA doesn't know too.

The only thing I know is threre are more 360 died/broked than PS3 because the RROD error... so the active base could be near or even bigger in PS3 favor.

No, I think the failure hate is quite high for the PS3.  Just look as some of the users on this site who constantly hate on the PS3.

360 will cut price this year, PS3 probably wont, so my vote is for 360 to actually move more consoles than PS3 total for the year. And yes the pricecut will come in holidays. If Sony cuts price it should be tight though, as 360 always moves more units in holidays.

I've been saying this forever. Look at sotware sales in USA. The PS3 has been selling a shitload of software, many of which is from multiplats. Every week and month you see many multiplats sell close or even match/surpass the 360 version in a region where the PS3 is supposed to be oblitareated (c'mon, 10 million more people buying software!) 10 million more sold? yes, 10 million more PLAYING? I don't think so. I doubt the difference is larger than 7 million just in USA.

This is not very accurate. You can not just multiply the current base by the 360 phat's failure rate, and expect to get accurate numbers because the 360s has not been shown to have such a widespread failure rate, so the 360 still may have a larger active unit base than the ps3 lol. Regardless if the active base is now smaller than the 360's, the 360 still kicks the crap out of the ps3 in terms of software sales.

Dude, I was making fun of ethomaz's misspelling and the implied context if it weren't a misspelled word.  It was just a joke.  Just chill, and quite hating.
