Forums - Gaming - JRPG Help

I find myself becoming less and less interested in gaming and after doing some soul searching I think I've finally figured out why. I didn't feel this much apathy towards gaming up until I played FFXIII. I'm a huge JRPG fan and to me Final Fantasies were among the best JRPGs around...However, with the disappointment that was XIII and a lack of any great JRPGs that I know of on the PS3 (That I haven't played) I started becoming less and less interested in gaming. The question I am asking is this. Are there any good-great JRPGs that I've missed? I've played Valkyria Chronicles, WKC, FFXIII, Lost Odyssey this gen. I wanna try out Resonance of Fate and Star Ocean International but reviews have basically scared me away from spending my hard earned cash out there......Basically it would be a big help to me if everyone could tell me their favourite JRPGs that I could play with a 60GB PS3.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

according to your game collection, you don't have the original Grandia.  Do yourself a favour and download it off PSN

You might give Tales of Vesperia and Blue Dragon a Chance both are real nice JRPGs, they are definitely beneath the best JRPGs of this Generation, but you only may play them on Xbox 360. On PS3 you have no alternatives there are no other good JRPGs on the PS3 beside waht you already have played.

well star ocean and resonance of fate are quite good. For resonance of fate dont go in expecting a great story but more good missions and battle I did like star oceans story though. If you have a 360 Tales of vesperia is awesome.

Eternal Sonata , End of Eternity(Resonance of Fate), Star Ocean 4 The Last Hope International are all awesome Japanese RPGs and any Japanese RPG Fan should play them also Makai Senki Disugaia 3 & 4, Ar tonelico III, Atelier Rorona, Trinity Universe are also awesome Japanese SRPGs as well.

Don't let Reviews turn you off these awesome RPGs also there is also meany more Japanese RPG then Final Fantasy out there don't let yourself get turned off Japanese RPGs or Gaming because of one Game in one series that didn't live up to your expectations.

My first Japanese RPG was Phantasy Star back in 1988 and I went on to played meany Japanese RPGs before I ever played a Final Fantasy title.

Edit: there is also meany PS2 Japanese RPGs that I see you don't own like GRANDIA II and GRANDIA III, XENOSAGA I, II amd III, Dark cloud, Dark Chronicle, Rogue Galaxy and meany others.

Try Demon´s Souls. True, it´s not classical JRPG, but still a great game.
