Maybe, but you obviously don't live in the UK where most downloading is capped by ISP's...

I can't see BT (British Telecom) updating all the lines in the UK. Just 3 days ago I lost my net (1mb line) because there are too many people on broadband in my area and the service could not handle it.

I have an "Up to 8MB" connection with BT for over £20 ($40) per month , and even BitTorrent with thousands of seeds (yes, legal) or major international companies' servers get up to, uh, 256KB/s on a good day.

BT has a download limit (in it's fair use policy). I believe it's ~20GB per month.

Then you get capped. Obviously it's the same for other ISP's. They say 'Unlimited' but it can be as little as 2GB to 20GB per month, then you get capped to 64Kb/sec and charged extra for being over limit as stated in 'fair use policy'.

I vote YOU don't come back, and I am sure everyone would agree if we took a consensus.  :)

Currently Playing:

PS4 - Killzone:SF and Assasins Creed 4

XBox One: BF4, CoD:Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5

Changing channels with my voice: priceless!!!

I'm not denying that one day it can happen... (Download Hi Def movies/Games)
Before HD on disc is the medium...(Blue Ray or HD-DVD)
I doubt it. (In the UK for starters - Not for AT LEAST 5 years, probably a lot more.).

Why would Nintendo drop the Wii name in it's next console considering how successful the brand name is?

No. I don't hit the cap very often; I'm talking normal use. I'm paying for an 8MB connection, I live near the exchange and I get 256KB/s uncapped.

Ubuntu. Linux for human beings.

If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

I get ~128KB/s on my 1mb line.

And Tesco ISP is TRUE unlimited

But could you imagine trying to download a HD DVD or Blue Ray Movie/Game on that line?

You could ask the same think about the Gameboy Name ...

Changing a name can actually be a very good thing because it creates a new blank slate in people's minds when they think of your product; naming your system the Playstation 3 (PS3) means that everyone has preconceptions (good and bad) about what your product is and who it is for long before they ever see it.

Sorry peeps, took the thread a little off topic there. :)

True but I suspect part of the name change for the DS was to help consumers avoid confusion with the Gameboy Advance and especially so that Nintendo could distance the product from the Gameboy lineup if it turned out to be a failure since it was a significant departure from the Gameboy design.

The Wii on the other hand is the successor to a console that was losing marketshare so it was obvious they wouldn't call it something like the Super Gamecube for example.  Also the Wii name is being heavily promoted to non-gamers so if Nintendo were to use another name with it's next console it would literally be starting back at square one with those consumers who likely don't follow videogame news.  Unless they plan on making a significant departure with their next console (which is doubtful) it really wouldn't make sense not to capitalize on the Wii name's success.
