Games that you thought were not going to be all that or just thought would flat out suck, but took you by surprise.

Uncharted 1, i read the reviews and could not understand why the hell it was getting great marks for essentially being Tomb Raider with a dude. I figured because it was a PS3 exclusive and there were few of those in the Uncharted 1 days. I finally would buy a used PS3 from a guy with all his games and one of those were Uncharted, i decided WTH might as well try it. ok the gunplay is much better than TR, melee attacks??? thats cool. acting is pretty good, environments look good. it is TR, or really its what TR should HAVE been or at least became. What really blew my mind was Mz. Elena. "great, a NPC that i have to worry about and will be useless" Then one the guys im fighting drops dead in front of me. I didnt fire, no way could that be the NPC. so i sit back and observe and imagine my shock when blondie is taking cover AND killing dudes, not maiming but dropping them. OK now i know why this game got the reviews that it did. the future had arrived. and the enemy AI was smart too, id say they were smarter than Uncharted 2's guys

The simpsons game, im a diehard fan of the show and I was just shocked that they made a game that didnt flat out sucked and it was quite funny.

X-men origins Wolverine  I was so sure that this game would blow that i didnt even read the reviews but one of my good friends told me it was worth it and he was right. Sure this is could be called GOW starring Logan, but i found the kills to be even more brutal than what Kratos would do, sticking a man's head into helicopter blades?? uncalled for and i loved it all. Who would have thought a game based on a movie based on the comic book guy would not suck. FYI im talking the HD versions dont know about the others, i heard they were alright

Batman AA  a great Batman game?? really?? the last time i played a Batman game that i liked was the NES one based on the Burton film. If you have an HD console you probably know what im talking about, if you dont, i feel for you

Fallout3 someone would have told me i would enjoy a WRPG i would have laughed, but 91+ hours later i still have crap to do in the world, thats replay value!!! maybe it has to do with the scifi settings since im not a huge fantasy fan.

Sonic all stars racing, this could have turned out much worst than it was, but its damn good. it belongs right up there with the CTRs of the world

Bioshock  had to see if it was as good as people were claiming and it was, nuff said

Demon's souls. 

A hard game that takes away everything if you die? Sounds bad to me. But soo good.

Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls.  Ya know, the two best rpg's of this gen.  hehe

Uno this is the game ive spent the most time online with period, its so good i wish the Wii version had came out along with the HD ones cause i would have gotten that version, trophies be damned! I think the PS3 crowd is too cool for this game, i wonder if they play it on Wii, i still might get it

Mario Galaxy 2 I always got bored with the 64 and sunshine games, oh they were great but going to the same levels 5 or 6 times gets boring. so i skipped galaxy in fear of it being the same. using Luigi in 2 sealed it for me and i was very glad to find a different formula, each planet has essentially 2 levels that are different from each other. As far as im concerned this is what 64 and Sunshie should have been. these games are much closer to the 2d ones than 64 and Sunshine ever were

Goldeneye this game could have sucked hard. but the damn multiplayer is so good. my expectations were far exceeded. If you like FPSs and have a Wii then you need this, and im talking to all you multiplat people too, put down the KZs, Halos, CODs, BFs and check out GE, its different enough to stand on its own.

Birth By Sleep, this game was in dev. since the KH2 days and its the best game in the series hands down. 

World Ends with you  this is the kind of game i want to be playing on DS, something that truly takes advantage of the system and a story that doesnt treat you like a child, why cant Square's console RPGs be near this good???

Mario & Luigi BIS  been playing this game for a few hours and i still im waiting for a part that i dont like. Im using Bowser and loving it. i dont even like that character

demon souls: I dont know how i liked that game after everything i read and seen i should have hated it but it turned out to be one of my faverite games ever

batman AA: surprizing only because i convinced myself the game was going to suck

The Darkness. I did not know anything about this, went out and bought this and zomg. Best story-telling and story in this gen in an fps imo.

Gameplay was great too. I remember talking about it to my friends for weeks and months, I was so impressed. I was talking about it for months because of the rrod though, and I couldn't complete it in time.

inFamous, I expecting something good but not that great

RDR, I did not really expect anything to be that engaging, but I still think about playing the game, for no apparant reason

assassins creed. Never knew i would enjoy that game over the many people who put it down

bayonetta. A game that focuses on a chick, that transforms her hair into dragons to eat angels, and has guns on her feet instead of her hands... But boy in terms of combat it is the best hack and slash game this gen.

Viva Pinata. Strangly addicting game. Got it in a double pack with banja nuts and bolts excpecting to only play banjo, but it was the other way around.

Lost Odyssey- I wasn't expecting it to be that good but boy did it blow my mind. Best jrpg this gen imo.
