Forums - Microsoft - 343: Next Halo will feature 'dramatic innovations' and 'slight tweaks'

I have a feeling the next Halo game with deal much more in depth with the Forerunners, and the likely fact that there may still be some left.  No one truley knows where they all went to and its very likely some are still hidden inside of Shield Worlds similar to the one seen in Halo Wars and the one encountered by the Spartans 3's and Kurt known as Onyx.

Also I think the Data Pads hidden in Halo Reach gives some glimpses into what may be brewing in the Halo Universe and its kinda scary.  The Data pads are basically an exchange of discussions from an unknown group of AI's who refer to themselves as The Assembly.  Basically these AI have been governing and influencing the human race for an unknown amount of time in order to fullfill their single purpose which is the preservation of humanity.  They formed their Assembly in complete secrecy and the human race has no idea of their existance.  They are directly responsible for huge events such as the creation of the Spartans and in fact they themselves reached out to the Covenant and revealed our existance to them in an effort to force humanity to evolve and deal with such a threat that way we would unify and not destroy ourselves as we had been doing in interplanatary civil war.

Oooh that sounds interesting....Is there anywhere where I can read them? (without going through the game and looking for them)

We'll see if they can walk the walk.  He might want to keep a low profile for now.  This changeover could easily end badly as both Bungie and Halo are icons to a lot of people.  I'll wait for reviews.

This guys have already taken over from Bungie..The last map pack for an example is made by them...and basically those maps are my favorite;..Not only they created two of the greatest maps they also created the best FF map , those maps also have a link to the universe (books).. And considering the ones who still love the Halo franchise stepped over to 343..    So far they are doing a great job...

I'm not expecting a disaster and what you're saying about the maps is encouraging but they need to get their first full game out before they start talking smack.  Look at the minor sstorm BioWare is getting for changing Dragon Age.  That's just the second game in a far less popular series and genre.  DA might have a fifth of Halo's fanbase.  Vegas dev Obsidian were under direct oversight from Bethesda and still got a lot of negative feedback from both sides of the fence.  Some want more change and others less.  Millions of people are going to object to anything 343 do.  Internet pushback /= $uccess but I think doing an HD CE first would have helped the transition.

I guess you are not a member  of Bungie.net?  May lightning strike me if I lie but their are atleast 10.000 threads about how much Halo Reach sucks on Bungie.net..  Fans were mad because of the changes in Halo 3 and later with Halo Reach.. 343 will for sure get some negative comments aswell but I think most Halo Universe fans agree that it looks like 343 cares so much about the Halo universe like 'we' do.  My expectations are high ..

Well I think Obsidian did a great job.  In fact for me they made a better game than F3 what fans were complainging about where the graphics (OMG still same engine looks so outdated) the bugs in the game;.

I think it would rather be a lame story...Everyone that was kind of popular in the games is dead except MC and Cortana but she is at the end of her A.I. life :s..  And their doesn't happen much after Halo 3...  The covenant forces are gone...Except maybe a few small groups of covenant forces..

I think rather the next halo game will be about the rest of the living spartans including 'Jun' who probably at the end of the game will find or meet MC..

id have to disagree....there are so many possibilities for after halo 3

for example.......fast forward 100 years. the UNSC regained its power and have tech gained from forunner installations, namely the Ark. The UNSC has now started mass producing spartans in an aggressive measure to capture forunner shield worlds and installations and keep them away from the elites. The covenant is broken up but the elites are still the dominant force in the galaxy.

you can easily make a halo game where u play as a squad of spartans taking one of the 6 remaining halo rings away from elite control and claiming its tech in the name of the unsc. gunfights, ship battles in orbit. throw in some flood. there ya go.

Nah, it's entirely possible to continue directly after halo 3. As much as athat book could be good, it would be wrong to use it to continue the story, since although I don't have sales figures, I doubt they sell anywhere near the games, the other halo books.

I think it's rather simple: he lands on that planet, wakes up, and for some reason, someone or something released another bunch of aliens which the forerunner kept away ( or they're new aliens from a different galaxy/universe, whatever ), which happen to be even more scary/dangerous than the flood. You then proceed to find new forerunner weapons, vehicles, so forth, kill all those new aliens with great weapons in beautifull and interesting scenery, and GTFO.

@ GeneralRamMD:  If they want they can continue the story..yes...

Mass producing Spartans?  One spartan armor cost the same as an battleship.. ..Fighting the Elites for forerunners tech while they already stated they don't care about it, fighting the flood is still plausible yes;..but like I said that sounds like a lame story...And considering their are so many characters left from the books they still could use for the game I think they rather use will them..(atleast that is what I hope).

@Phoeniks;.More worse than the flood?  The Flood is like the worst villains ever =p..   Parasites that not can only take over your body but also can absorb your knowledge;.. Zombies are wussies compared against the Flood..

Half-way through that thread my brain went into overload with questions. I still can't believe no one has figured out how to trigger the legendary ending to REach yet. That may answer a few more questions.

Indeed, the Halo Universe and Lore has no equal in all of gaming.  Whether your a fan or not is entirely opinion based but in terms of sheer depth, content, and overarching epicness of the Universe there is no game released even close in terms of content.  There is SOOOOO much more to Halo than simply Master Chief going around the universe pwning the Covenant and the Flood.

Another thing thats incredible is the writing.  My mind litteraly exploded when I realized The Assembly was actually responsible for the entire Human and Covenant war and that it was them who actually reached out and drew the Covenant to us.  It makes you wonder exactly how far these AI are willing to go to see there agendas carried out.  And also exactly who they are and how many are involved, it could possibly be every single AI the UNSC has.

No it would happen if you complete the game during an eclipse, on legendary. In one playthrough, without dying. And without pausing the game. Pause = lose.
