Forums - Gaming - Have you ever bought a system more than once?

Many gamers out there have supported their hobby to the point of purchasing their loved systems two or three... or more times.

Let's talk about it. Tell about the systems you've repurchased, and tell why.

First, I've bought three N64s. The first one, we got when the N64 launched. The second one, sometime around '01 or '02, we got when the original one died. The third, I purchased for myself when I knew I was moving out soon and wanted to have an N64 for myself, since the other one was my family's.

Second, I've purchased two GameBoy Advances (although I've owned three... yay for "finder's keepers" hahaha). The first one, I purchased shortly after the GBA's launch. The second, I purchased after I found my GBA:SP so I could trade between my Pokémon games, because the original GBA had been lost.

Third, I've purchased two Wii's. I got the Wii when it launched, and my family fell in love. However, again, I was moving out. This time, though, the Wii was already actually mine, so it was going with me. But I owed my father a respectable amount of money, and since they'd been trying to find a Wii for quite some time, I located one on eBay at a bargain price (see: paid less than I would have if I bought it in-store), and I paid them back in that manner.

Fourth, I've purchased four (and counting!) DS Lites. Originally, I bought mine shortly after the Lite launched. My wife really liked it, and I got sick of sharing it with her, so I bought her one too haha. Then, recently, I've begun taking both of them with me to work for downtime (some days I have so much downtime that I actually drain the battery on one entirely, and some days I play with friends at work to pass the time more quickly). So, I went to purchase an extra one (and ended up getting two because the price was right). I've been seeing absolutely magnificent deals for them, so I'm currently attempting to acquire a few more (one to give to my 13-yr-old little brother for his 14th birthday, one to sell to another little brother (18) since he lost his, one to sell to one of my friends because he'd love to get a DS, but his wife won't let him at the price they sell for typically).

So, what have you bought twice? Three times? More? Why?

I bought 2 GBA because they came together in an ebay auction for cheap. Gave one away.

Kinda bought 2 SNES. I mean I just got one for X-mas. But I bought a second for my Girlfriend to get her into gaming.

2 GBAs, 1 was an upgrade to SP. That's all.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

2x DS... (2nd was a lite)...

Was for multiplayer-fun inhouse.

And im planning to buy a second Gamecube for 50$ (it comes with a controller)... And that's what i'm after! I want to get 4 controllers for the bloody thing and 50$ is cheaper then a Wii-game....

THE NETHERLANDS

I had the pins break on my N64 so I bought a 2nd console for that used. It was like $20 and came with another controller.

I also had gotten a GBC once or twice because I had sold my SP in preparation for the DS coming out. Not at the same time though.

I recently gave my fiance my old gamecube, but my sister had also played occasionally, so I may end up getting her a refurbished Gamecube for $30 if she wants it. As it is, she's playing on the Wii more often, so it's unlikely to come up.

I also used to have the big PS2, and I basically traded it to the president of my avg club for a PS2 slim model that belonged to the president of the club. She then "sold" the PS2 to the club and used the funds to buy herself one of the silver PS2 slims. So I don't know if that counts as buying a 2nd model, but it's far more convenient for me having the slim model. It was kinda cheating, but my PS2 works just as well as any other PS2 and theres' no point in getting the cluba  shiney PS2 that's easier and more likely to be stolen.

Oh, right, I almost forgot, I ended up trading in my DS for a DS lite as well, since they had an offer for tradeins. I got the black DS lite. The larger stylus was what actually made all the difference to me. I know I could have just gotten a big pen sized stylus, but I prefer not having to keep track of a seperate stylus

I'm considering getting the more recent NES model, but what I may do is simply wait for all the games I have to be released on VC on just sell the console entirely.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

3 psp's.

mM

I have 2 snes's, two DS's, Two GBA's and have owned 3 PS3's because they break after 2 years

My first PS2 stopped reading disks and got my second one for around $20 from a friend. Same issue a few years later, bought another for about $20 from someone at school who needed the money. So that makes three.

Otherwise every single console still works... NES, SNES, N64, GB original, XBox, PS1. Haven't had the need to buy more.

Numbers: Checker Players > Halo Players

Checkers Age and replayability > Halo Age and replayability

Therefore, Checkers > Halo

So, Checkers is a better game than Halo.

Two N64's: I sold mine back in 1997. Bought the DK64 bundle in 1999 I think.

2 Playstations: Before that PS1 conked out, I had to lay it on it's side XBOX 360 style. Eventually I had to turn it belly up.....before it went belly up.

3 Playstation 2's: Not only did the PS2 say "Fuck it! I Quit!" every couple of years, I don't know ANYONE that still has their first PS2. That's one reason I bought a 360. (of course, one month after I bought it, I found out about the RRoD epidemic)

4 Nintendo DS's: One is way too scratched up to use for anything other than Mario Kart or Tetris. One replaced the original. Then Nintendo announced the DS Lite. I had too have it. So did my daughter.

2 Gameboys: Considering how many variations came out, I'm suprised I just bought 2.

2 Nintendo Entertainment Systems: I don't even know where the first one went. I like to think that it's helping starving kids in Africa, or something. God's speed little NES. God's speed

I'd buy a new SNES, but the damned thing is unbreakable! My great grandkids are gonna play Super Mario World on that thing.

Oh yeah... and like 3 PS2s. Stupid unreliable PS2s. My Atari still works! My Balley Astrocade, my Nes, my Snes... well you see where this is going.

Yet two PS2's went kaput.
