Forums - Nintendo - Which classic Nintendo series could be resurrected for Wii or DS?

You're missing Golden Sun. It's a Nintendo series.

You are missing Mario Baseball. Wii sequel is announced as well.

Kirby for Wii is not dead. That Nintendo Power UK article was just stupid. The guy didn't know it had ever even been in development, but it's still on Nintendo's release lists.

Pikmin Wii was announced to be in development back at E3.

Golden Sun is owned by third-party company Camelot Software Planning, which often partners with Nintendo. I included Mario Golf and Mario Tennis because the IP is Nintendo's not Camelot's.

I thought Baseball would be a one-off. I've added it.

I don't know about Kirby for Wii. Yes, ONM's Ask Nintendo coulmn is uninformed and ambiguous, but we haven't heard anything since early this year and Wikipedia says Japan-only for some reason. I'll leave it in Development Hell alongside Duke Nukem Forever unless there's been a more recent official statement.

I've added Pikmin. Thanks.

I think it's pretty obvious that Kid Icarus needs to make a return in the near future. And F-Zero. And Pikmin (of course).

Just kiss the tip.

It is? Dang. Oh well... Camelot is owned by Sega now aren't they?  And doing I Love Golf for Wii already so Golden Sun might return to Wii / DS all the same.

Oh, and on the subject of making a true to form 2D Metroid, they could make it a WiiWare download... that would be sweet...

Just kiss the tip.

Golden Sun is actually owned by Nintendo.  Or I should say co-owned.  Check it out http://www.goldensun-games.com

Nintendo has 2nd party rights to the franchise.  Camelot could no more make Golden Sun without Nintendo than Rare could make Viva Pinata without Microsoft.   So yes, Golden Sun is a Nintendo franchise and should be recognized as such.

OK, fine. Thanks for letting me know. Would you consider Tetris a Nintendo franchise? They own some rights but I don't know if enough to class it as theirs.

EDIT: The status of the DS game is unclear. The developers appear to have expressed interest in it, but no development has yet taken place as far as I can tell. I'm putting it as 'No'.

Nintendo has zero rights to Tetris. They at one time did, but Tetris Holding currently owns all rights to any Tetris game. It has been licensed out in second party forms (like Tetris DS), but Tetris Holding retains all rights to publishing Tetris on any system.

And no, I don't know anything about the status of the production of a DS or Wii Golden Sun other than Camelot saying they'd like to put it on both systems.  I know they also have a Wii game in production.  So, it's certainly a possibility, but there is no concrete evidence at this point.

Arwings and Tanks on a Star Fox Wii game, I'd be in heaven. Any of that walking crap though, and I'd likely look away.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Kid Icarus and Pilotwings.

StarFox should be in an Arwing only. I agree with DarkNight, bring on a new SrarTropics. Those games were true gems. What about a Boy and his Blob? Any takers?
