There are far too many top rate FPS games on other platforms to be "envious" of a title like Conduit 2 on the Wii that likely wouldn't even register as a blip on the radar for any other platform.

About the only thing it has going for it are the Wii remote pointer controls, which aren't even anything to crow about anymore given FPS Move integration on the PS3.

The problem with blog type sites like Hip Hop Gamer is that they are allowed to be extremely biased due to the blog/opinion format that isn't constrained by the "objectivism" that is supposedly present in more journalistic news sources.

You can bet that if High Voltage gave the Hip Hop Gamer show an exclusive interview or exclusive access to inside information, etc. it's going to result in positive hype/coverage as hype is one of the things blog sites pretty much depend upon to stay relevant.

Controversy, of course being the other thing, because how can you expect to stay relevant if you don't have a chunk of people visiting even if for no other reason than to say how much they disagree with what the blogger himself may not even believe is true.

Um, lower budget. The costs of games on those other systems is stupidly ignored, and just mention the few hits as though they magically make up for all the money being lost by most of the developers.

And lower sales isn't an answer to the above since a) those sales are the developers' fault due to neglect, and b) flops are still fewer despite that.

Good point. I'm going to play Conduit 2 instead of Halo Reach because it's lower budget.

i know when i pick out a game things like low development budget is a key buying decision factor.  i inivite all of my friends over and say "you see those terrible graphics and bland gameplay; you can really see the profitablility in this games..."

You know, he was talking from a developers standpoint...

Why would developers work for Wii? Is it because you can add motion and IR? No, becaus it's lower bugdet...

*plays Conduit 2 instead of Halo:Reach*

you know he was talking on a completely different matter to what the original post was about. Hence why kitler making fun of it. fact of the matter is, players don't care about dev costs the least. And if sales are any indication, it hasn't really been bad for the high budget FPS titles for SONY and MS now has it? so again you, like that guy, missed the point.

"plays any FPS on the HD consoles instead of Conduit"

Perhaps, but when was thread ever about sales?

To my knowledge it was always about the quality of the game, sure, he's bigging himself up, but that's not a bad thing is it? If the game is great and gets awesome reviews, people will want it. That's the truth in the matter. Doesn't come down to shiny graphics, dev costs etc. Good games sell well,

yea well apparently if sales = quality, conduit 1 sucked in comparison. The reality is SOny and MS both have way way better FPS franchises, first party AND third party. Conduit doesn't even hold a candle to them.

Doesn't matter, as the guy said, he replied to a post without understanding what the poster was talking about, properly. and again, MS and sony should be jelous of Conduit 2 if the game is better and has a fan following way more than what they have and will sell much more than their FPS titles. Reality won't even be close to that. It's alright to say our game will 'xxx', everyone does it, but the statement ms and sony will 'envy' for not having this game is laughable, sorry.

Yeah, very true. But they have a lot of advertising, good advertising, behind them, like Lord said. No matter how good a game is, if no-one knows it exists, it won't sell well. Okami is a good example. Great game, but with a niche character and art style and poorly advertised, hence it got few sales. I fear Okamiden will go a similar way

Now look at, say, Halo:Reach. For the weeks leading up to it, and months after it, it was heacily advertised over here. That coupled with good reviews and lots of coverage, as well as brand recoginiton, meant it sold damn well...

The Conduit will likely, very likely, never ever sell as well as Halo. But, with the right measures taken and a few (key) tweaks to the design, then Conduit 2, 3 or 4 could well be as good in quality at least.

(This may not go together well, but some of his was meant to go on the end of my previous post!)

come up with as many excuses as you want

advertising

limited functionality

quality

graphics

etc etc

doesn't change reality, Sony and MS have absolutely no reason to envy for not having this game, period.

Perhaps. But what about the average consumer? I know plenty of people whi have said 'I'd get it if it wasn't on the Wii' for, not only this game, but plenty of others.

Sure, maybe Sony and MS won't be envious or whatever of not having the game, but some potential Sony customers might. Heck, it may, although HIGHLY unlikely, make someone decide to get a Wii!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Now Just Dance, that was clearly envied, as they made their own dance games. Same with Wii Sports.

This game just has to show these games are still worth it on the Wii. It doesn't have to make the other first parties jealous.

oh without a doubt, as with all consoles there will be games others envy for sure, wii is no exception.

and no, if this game ends up on the HD consoles it will be absolutely slaughtered by the competition like Halo, COD, Killzone, Resistance, battlefield, Crysis etc etc. So no, it won't be worth the envy or anything for that matter to not having this game on MS/Sony consoles.

That's why I wrote the bolded part. You seem to think I'm disagreeing with you here. I'm not.

I will repeat that I admit the rest of the post I replied to was from the player's view, so I accidentally quote mined. My bad on that. My point still stands, but it wasn't a proper response.

Also, even if control is the only major reason for an FPS on the Wii, online is about the only major reason for the other systems, and even that's not that much anymore with what we are seeing in Black Ops and other games. It's not XBL, but it's getting closer to PSN (and ironically might be better than PSN when it comes to Black Ops, with how the PS3 players are getting unfortunately hosed).

No, graphics are not a reason. Perhaps using the specs for greater scale, but most of the time it's used for detail, which just changes how it looks, not how it playes (as in we see CoD games on the Wii, and likely could even run Gears, but certainly not MAG).

i see your admitted improper responce and retract my jackass response.

but lolz -- wii's online is no where near psn or live.

wii's used to have a win in the controls column but now move (and maybe kinect??) leveled that playing field for the HD consoles.

but lolz at saying wii's online is anywhere near psn or live.  and yes graphics count -- it's addes to the immersion.  and like you said, that extra horse power can be put into greater scale which can in fact improve the gameplay.  it also can increase the player count which also improves the gameplay.  it improves the dynamic nature of the maps which again improves the gameplay.

there is a very good reason i started the gen as a wii/nintedo fanboy and switched.  the HD consoles are just improving games far too much to just sit around and wait for nintendo to catch up.

I just wrote in the case of Black Ops showing Wii online can be done well.

And immersion is from design, not detail. Immersion in gaming is imagination, not tricking you into thinking it's real. And I wrote that scale is not always used, and NOT the same as graphics. That's what the bolded part is. Lair proved that they are not the same.

And let's be honest, now with sony and microsoft's motion stuff its only a matter of time before the Conduit has a chance to do poorly on the HD consoles

The Conduit was not good at all and 2 doesn't look any better than the first. Hell, HVS wished that they made Halo.
