they should frimware update that you can quick boot staight to the game in your disk drive then with later releases allow quick boot directly into there last save in there campaign or staight to the online section. 

Reassign the start button when the console is off to start quick boot which loads the game in the drive. And should start if putting an disk into the drive when the system is off. 

You know how loved this would be, the ability be esepecially if they work with developers in making it able to quick boot directly into the mutliplayer menu by passing the sony load up then selecting the game then watching the games now unskippable display of who the publisher is despite its big ass symbol on the cover, skipping the cut scenes. Not to mention all the updates that you may have to install. 

Simple quick boot all the stuff and if there are updates then do it staight away when you quick boot if not then square to offline game. 

This can be done is re programming how the system starts off. The ability to quickly hop on when you have <30 minutes, play an mutliplayer game then off you get is great because its an struggle for me to play when you have to commit to at least 1-2 hours because the first 30 minutes is the period of getting started. 

Because right now i can load my PC and open an game faster than my ps3.

umm..."quick boot" has been around since day one? (assuming you mean  switch on the ps3 and the game/disc inside instantly starts playing) this used to be the case until people complained that them switching on the ps3 didn't necessarily mean they wanted to play a game so the fix came that game you the option to choose which one you wanted.

As for auto update, if you are a member of psnplus, this feature is there already. you set the timer to go off at X-time every day and for about 30mins, it'll switch on your ps3, It looks at the games you played recently and the game in your disc drive then search for updates or sometimes free dlcs and starts downloading it for you, if you need to pay for it, it'll tell you there is a paid dlc available.

Infamous had quick boot, when you start the game you start directly were you left, pretty cool, but I dont want that for the ps3 in general, the ps1/ps2 had that, It only takes like...erm 10 seconds? not that long :P

Nintendo was the first to implement the "quick boot" in Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.  More proof that everyone copies Nintendo.  They were called the "Pegasus Boots" but the idea was still basically the same.

A PS3 that starts up like a PSP when you  would have been playing a game would be cool. I suppose it would be possible to have it save your spot for all  games like with the disc movies.

Not sure if is possible. PSP have 32mb RAM.

PS3 have 512mb plus there is a OS running behing the game. Would be complex, slow(to transfer 500mb to the HD) and risky(hackers could use this "hole").

I don't really know. But would be VERY cool. Its my favourite feature of PSP.
