Forums - Sony - Do you think a GTA Exclusive would help PS3's sales?

Of course. And remember people it has a possibility if Sony pays R* something in exchange.

Can you imagine the money lost if they do it excl to sony, Sony would have to pay out their arses to get it

Not exactly true. LA Noire was Sony publishing and R* managed to get it for themselves, its possible Sony might go for GTA exclusivity.

Not saying its happening though. But through some kind of agreement its possible, Sony will get their money's worth with all the software sales and the hardware sales. They should see to it that they are profiting with hardware though.

It wont be a decider at this late stage but it will help.

It would be particularly effective if it was to use Move in some inventive way.

GTA 3 was a game changer for the PS2 but it was exclusive at an early stage of the consoles life.

what you are basically asking is would the millions of people that bought GTA for the 360 buy a ps3 if GTA went exclusive to the ps3 ...

... and the answer is clearly no.  360 owners obviously have gotten past the cruch of non-inovative "core" games and now want nothing more than kinect-based min- games.

I think so. Any console getting GTA exclusively would benifit higly from it

This...a total exclusive GTA...imagine that...lets say its like Vice City and waaay better than GTA IV...now you got like 8-9 millions GTA Xbox owners who are hungry for a new GTA...it would be a good system seller for the 5th-6th year of a console...

but this wont happen IMO...i would love it but Rockstar made more Money with the Xbox version and also announced Agent...so GTA exclusivity would be non-sense...

It would need to sell 4m consoles to make the difference, GTA doesn't have that pulling power in its 2nd iteration this late in the gen

I agree. If anything, it will make GTA less popular in the 360 gamers eyes, and those gamers would opt for Saints Row 3. Then again, I could be underestimating the power of GTA.

I think that a LOT of people would buy ps3s if they knew GTA V was exclusive

At this point and time?  This speaks to both how long this generation has been out, and also what has happened to GTA.  Do you believe GTA is now all that as a franchise, after what has happened with GTA 4?

Considering GTA 4 on the 360 outsold the PS3 version by a million units and is sitting at basically 9 million WW on 360 only there's no chance at all this game would go exclusive.  Neither Sony or MS has ANYWHERE near the cashflow it would require to make up for the massive amounts sold on the other console.

So basically the answer is obviously yes, just like any other system would see huge sales if it recieved the game as an exclusive, but that doesn't really matter at all considering GTA is going to FOR SURE be staying a mutli-platform release.

It'd certainly boost sales, I don't think anyone can deny that, but to such a large extent? I don't really think so. GTA 4 was a great game, but it wasn't on the level of previous GTA's. If Rockstar deliver a superb new addition and it is exclusive, then yes, but if GTA 5 is similar to the level of 4, then probably not.
