Forums - General - Why AT&T sucks big time.

I got a Captivate back in September and it has always given me problems. The phone after a while would get really slow, sometimes apps force close and the GPS doesn't even work right.

Anyways after numerous delays and broken promises they finally give us the 2.2 Froyo update for the phone, only problem is that they won't host it over the air and you need to use Samsung Kies to install it.

I follow all the directions perfectly, the program recognizes my phone, downloads the update and then begins the update.

The update hangs at 0%.

I sit there for almost an hour and still no progress. In the end the update failed and my phone is bricked. Not even the wonderful Odin3 flasher can seem to fix it (Even though I still have access to download mode) because it seems the failed update messed up one of my files and now it can't write it to my phone (Sbl.bin).

AT&T tells me that I am pretty much shit out of luck and to get another phone it will cost me about $400.

This is absolute fucking bullshit.

Update : Not even emergenecy recovery with Samsung Kies will get past 0%...

Yeah I hate AT&T. That really sucks though.

I have an idea. Drop AT&T and go to a reliable provider. Verizon perhaps?

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I would blame Samsung... their updates tend to brick stuff.. same happend with their WP 7 phones.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

^Seems like a good business move at least... brick your customer's phone then charge them $400 for a new one

Still 1 1/2  years left on my contract.

Talking with Samsung now and they are making me do things that I have already confirmed to not work...

I also have (2) phones on this contract so cancelling it would cost me BIG TIME!

LOL! They are telling me to call their Galaxy support hotline, meanwhile my phone is bricked and can't make phone calls.

Either way I wonder how they are going to update my phone from their end.

1. Call Samsung and cuss their a**es out.

2. Go to an At&t store and ask the guy in there to test the update on the computer

3. Sell the phone and get another to activate it on At&t (They may charge you extra)

They should be able to because it was their faults it was bricked. Either way it goes you deserve a refund.
