Damn man! Just heard it on the news, toll could be in tens of thousands! Also struggling to keep another reactor under control, nature has the way to fuck with us ._.

that sucks, but why do people feel the need to donate everytime a some disaster strikes. I find it ironic that when some disaster strikes in America, suck as hurricane katrina awhile back,no one feels the need to donate anything. Don't get me wrong, what happened in Japan sucks and it's terrible, but America always has to act like some disaster relief nation.

Umm not only did other countries pledge millions if not billions in relief for Katrina. But the US Government was too proud and arrogant to accept help. The day after Katrina Canada put our army on standby we had a medical ship put on stand by and dozens of search and rescue teams, we also put the PRT on stand by which is renowned around the world.

But guess what when our Prime Minister asked Bush if he wanted help and offered to send everything we had to help. Guess what your precious President said, pretty much that America will handle the crisis on their own and didn't need Canada's help. He said FEMA was more then capable of handling the disaster. It took months before finally the US asked for Canada's support. Once they did Canada sent everything we could to help your arrogant government. By that time thousands of people had died. If the US had accepted help immediatly many lives could have been saved.

Fact is countries around the world pledged to help the US, heck even Russia and China. But the US Government didn't accept help until way too late. Today I believe it is 46 countries that are pledging to help Japan, the question is will Japan accept their help, or will they do what the US did and try to do it themselves without help.

I just hope that Japan takes our help.

Also if your looking to donate money I know the Red Cross is taking donations, I heard World Vision is as well.

Hydrogen explosion number two, same plant, different reactor

well, at least we aren't seeing giant explosions wiping out the countryside yet. I can live with some radiation being sent into the air as long as a full scale nuclear explosion doesn't happen.

Whatever you do, DON'T DONATE TO ANY RANDOM INTERNET WEBSITE.

There are always tons of scams after every disaster. Donate only to trustworthy charities, and never follow links from mass emails you receive...

I have some very bad news (all times given below arr British time...right now its 15:33 at time of posting this post):

  • 1521: Fears of a partial meltdown at the Fukushima plant would appear to be growing, as Kyodo news agency reports that fuel rods in number 2 reactor are again "fully exposed".
  • 1513: Water level in reactor 2 at Fukushima has fallen again, AFP now reporting citing Japanese media.

  • 1507:
Nuclear fuel rods have been exposed again at the Fukushima plant, Kyodo news is reporting. More on this as we get it
  • Nuclear Meltdown map thingy:

  • They seem to be able to maintain water levels in there as we speak. They had not resorted to pumping in seawater into Reactor 2 (in an effort to save it, as seawater essentially kills the reactor dead: cyanide rather than anesthetic) before this point, which they will do now, which will probably lead to a third explosion, but not a full-scale meltdown

Quoting myself to say that i called it, at least as far as a third explosion went. Unit 2 has now suffered an explosion as well, though they're not calling it a hydrogen explosion, i'm pretty sure that's what it is, as if it were a proper meltdown explosion we would have definitely heard of it as such.

This last explosion is good news in a way, as it has led to the final reversal in pressure buildup at the affected nuclear reactors, which they should know be able to bring under control
