| oldschoolfool said: that sucks, but why do people feel the need to donate everytime a some disaster strikes. I find it ironic that when some disaster strikes in America, suck as hurricane katrina awhile back,no one feels the need to donate anything. Don't get me wrong, what happened in Japan sucks and it's terrible, but America always has to act like some disaster relief nation. |
Umm not only did other countries pledge millions if not billions in relief for Katrina. But the US Government was too proud and arrogant to accept help. The day after Katrina Canada put our army on standby we had a medical ship put on stand by and dozens of search and rescue teams, we also put the PRT on stand by which is renowned around the world.
But guess what when our Prime Minister asked Bush if he wanted help and offered to send everything we had to help. Guess what your precious President said, pretty much that America will handle the crisis on their own and didn't need Canada's help. He said FEMA was more then capable of handling the disaster. It took months before finally the US asked for Canada's support. Once they did Canada sent everything we could to help your arrogant government. By that time thousands of people had died. If the US had accepted help immediatly many lives could have been saved.
Fact is countries around the world pledged to help the US, heck even Russia and China. But the US Government didn't accept help until way too late. Today I believe it is 46 countries that are pledging to help Japan, the question is will Japan accept their help, or will they do what the US did and try to do it themselves without help.
I just hope that Japan takes our help.
Also if your looking to donate money I know the Red Cross is taking donations, I heard World Vision is as well.
