If the online retailers are to be believed, theIco/Shadow of the Colossus collection we'd been told we'd see on PS3 this spring is not coming to the party.

According to Amazon  and Buy.com,  the release schedule's been abandoned and reset for sometime in 2012 (rather than "Fall 2011" reported a few days ago,) meaning I'm sitting here staining my second-hand plaid shirt with the embittered tears of one betrayed.  Have I not been a kind and worthy son of man?  Why, why O crone of Fate do you savage my life's tapestry with your crooked needle?!  Why in my time of need must I be made to endure the reneging of release dates, and daily Cityville invites on Facebook?  And why do the girls I fail to date laugh when I tell them I'm a writer?

...WHY!?

Of course, some of you probably aren't as cripplingly morose over this as I am, but you should be.  Any delay in the HD collection's release probably hints at a much bigger push-back for The Last Guardian, a game which has been detailed so seldom in the last year that we're grasping at info like hobos for Susan B. Anthonies.

Right now there's no confirmation from Sony that this push-back is real, or why it would happen, but there's usually some truth to the matter when multiple retailers are saying the same, sad thing.  We'll keep you in the loop if anything new comes out of this.

Sony is obviously pushing it back to work on the Final Fantasy 7 HD remake.

What is apparent, however, is that the Collection is no longer going to make it's initial Spring release date.  Ueda mentioned in an interview recently that they are completely redoing the opening scene of Ico, among other things, so it's apparent they're putting quite a bit more work into this collection than in the others.  He also mentioned he'd like to include a demo for the Last Guardian on the disc if he can, and both of these things probably have a hand in any delays.

Given he also insisted ("promised" I believe) that the Last Guardian will be coming out this year in that very same interview, I'm guessing a Summer release for the Collection, followed by a late holiday release for the Last Guardian.

I think God of War collection took 6 weeks or so.

I wonder if they are pushing it back so it releases close to The Last Guardian.

Also if this is really pushed back to possibly 2012 then I wouldn't expect TLG this year either.

Hopefully we get it around the August-October time frame.

It doesn't matter to me. I will be getting it before I get last guardian and last guardian looks like 2012 release so its not going to be much of a problem to me. Hope it releases this year though.

Perhaps they are matching the release of the Collection so that they can include a demo of TLG.

you can play both of them, in a ps2 emulator.... on PC if you have a fast enough computer. in HD.
that way you don't have to buy it twice.

but that's a bit difficult for some people
