Forums - Gaming - Why are lego games sooo underrated?

I only have Lego Batman. Enjoyed the hell out of it. I'll definitely buy the rest of the Lego games someday, maybe except Lego Rock Band.

I played the first 2 LEGO Star Wars games and I quite liked them to be honest.  Given the fact that LEGO Star Wars II has a metascore of 86 on the PC (which I would agree with for once) I wouldn't say that it is underrated.  But I would say that they are without a doubt overlooked  by much of the gaming population due to the whole 'kiddy' thing

Lego Indiana Jones 2 is still the only game EVER that was better then the Movie

Not true...

Responding to OP, I don't think the Lego (insert pop culture license here) Games are underrated at all... if anything they are simply overplayed and are on the verge of going the way of Guitar Hero.  Lego Star Wars was great because of the license it was based on.  Lego Indiana Jones was OK, Lego Batman was meh, and Lego Harry Potter is just blah.  And now they got Lego Pirates of the Carribean... what next?  Lego Twilight?  Lego Transformers?  (Actually, that might be pretty cool).

Personally, I yearn for the days of ACTUAL Lego games... you know, like Lego Island, or Lego Racers... or how about a Lego builder game not unlike Minecraft??? (although, that would pretty much defeat the purpose of having Legos in the first place).

I think lego matrix would be cool but i think it may just ruin the matrix cause lego cant be that kick ass

Matrix 3 ruined the Matrix.

@OP

I have the first Lego Star Wars on the GameCube. Only Lego game I own and I thought it was fucking awesome. I had a blast playing co-op with my brother (he's a few years older than me) and we finished it a weekend.

For me, the charm of Lego games disappeared after the lego Harry Potter game released.

I played a few of the lego games, but never finished one. They are definitely multiplayer games, single player got boring for me way too fast. The puzzles are fun to figure out, but after a few those get redundant too. My problem is that they are just too designed for kids. It's fun blowing up things and never dying for a while, but eventually I want to have to think and as I stated earlier, that wore off way too quickly because it's all stuff an 8-year old could figure out.

I think that the 3rd one did because 1 and 2 was all slow mo, kick ass fighing and aerobatics. Matrix 3 is more of a war with like no good slow mo fights (apart from the last fight with agent smith). I prefer 1 and 2 :D

They should do a new Legoland, this was an awesome game back in the day

How can you ruin something that already ruined itself?

I'm an advocate of Lego anything frankly. Lego vs Capcom anyone?
