Outside Steam and Facebook (which are themselves "closed platforms" technically), PC gaming isn't exactly bustling if you're not Blizzard.

Also, EA didn't say this. Trip Hawkins did, and he hasn't worked for EA since 1991 iirc. He left to found 3DO.

Left to found a company that made a lot of bad business decisions you say? Interesting how this man has never made a true name for himself unlike your Miyamotos, Kojimas, or infamously like Bobby Koticks, no he's just some guy who used to be relevant 20 years ago
Basically he's whining he used to work during the "wild west" days as the article put it, he liked spewing crap then (on a console) and now he's mad that he can't do it anymore so he's spewing crap from his mouth hoping someone will listen, and of course news sites will
MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"
Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000
The easiest way out is to always blame someone else.
I bet all the complaining was done by struggling or companies losing money - similar to EA who lost another 322m last quarter.
If they were more important people complaining then their remarks would have made this news, not Trips.
If Trips current company was raking it in hand over fist I doubt he would have cared.
Massively successful companies like Apple or Nintendo ain't gonna change because some nobodies made some comments.
Nintendo has always been cutthroat in the way they license games. Apple has also had a lot of restrictions with their devolpers since the first Apple computer was intoduced. I am really not suprised that people are still complaining about it.
Envious people will alway be envious.
the Apple part is right, though.

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped: the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA
bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Which part? The part where they complained that Apple should raise more barriers to the App Store or the part where they complained that Apple should reduce barriers to the App Store? You didn't even notice that they want it both ways...
Developers want everything handed to them on a silver platter. They want unrestricted access to all hardware with no license agreement or fees, free dev tools and support, and they'd appreciate it if you would arbitrarily block out competing developers while you're at it. Oh, and please quadruple your hardware resources while you subsidize the price, we'd rather not have to go through the trouble of optimizing code. Also, the customers need to please keep handing over money on a monthly basis without worrying too much about whether they actually enjoy the product we make.
I'm sick of the crybabies. Nintendo and Apple aren't killing gaming fast enough.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event." — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
