| Pyro as Bill said: As ex-Nintendo President, Hiroshi Yamauchi, once said and repeated again at GDC by Iwata “The hardware is just a box you buy only because you want to play Mario games.” With Nintendo software still blazing the charts whilst hardware sinks below PS3 levels, is it not logical for Nintendo to at least consider going 3rd party? |
I am not sure where you got that information; according to this site, Nintendo has sold over 230 million pieces of hardware between DS and Wii this generation; Sony has sold about 110 million, and Microsoft 51 million.
Moving to multiplatform a good idea? Nope:
This generation, Nintendo systems have sold 1.3 billion pieces of software, Sony 0.55 billion, and Microsoft 0.48 billion. Nintendo sticking to their own systems has a higher potential to sell software than they would if they switched over to the three rival systems, in other words.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
