I'd say changing the release date would be a better idea than straight up canceling one version of the game.
But really, if you want to make it an exclusive, and feed on the hype that can come from that (and yes, I do believe certain games can benefit considerably from this), you'd probably have to cancel both the PC and PS3 versions, and I'm sure the PC version did pretty well. Better than PS3 at least. It's a matter of whether those lost sales would've been made up for by an increase in sales of the 360 version, and I'm not so sure that would be the case.
I disagree with the idea that the PC and console markets have "little" overlap. I'm sure the percentage of those who own a PC and one or more consoles is similar to that of people who own multiple console and don't game on PC. Not including PC in this discussion would be tantamount to not including any other platform. Plus, it's the hardcore gamers who are more likely to own multiple platforms, and they are more likely to game on PCs than your average consumer.
