No wonder. People at my school are all no good losers who hate Pokemon because it's for teh kiddies yet I still saw someone playing it on their phone. I was wondering what the deal was.

Nintendo had better get the 3DS with Pokemon RBYGSC on VC quick. This is a massive opportunity!

I can't believe how many ridiculous people there are who prefer the beyond terrible Gen I to the awesome new ones, though I suppose it might raise the series' popularity in general.

And now I see why you got SoulSilver, ;).

Are you saying the Pokemon of Gen one are the worst, because if so, prepare for trouble.  You may even have to make it double.  Yes, the game is antiquated now, but it still is perfect.  I would say either Gold or Heart Gold are the best.  I kind of agree about the pokemon getting increasingly lame, or at least repetitive.  I mean, look at the structure, there is a replacement for rattata and Pidgey every damn time, change it up more.  I saw a crocodile one from Black and White that seemed cool though lol.

They are the worst. Every new Pokemon game that comes is way better in every way. Admittedly, they seem far more repetetive and are not nearly as revolutionary, but they are better speaking strictly quality-wise because of their new features.

I've just grown into hating the originals nowdays because of the number of people who blindly say Red and Blue were better reasonlessly without giving the new games a chance, though. Nostalgia is horrible in this case.

Well very few latch onto the new Pokemon as much as the old ones, it was cool then but the endless expansion is diluting things I feel.  The games focus hasn't been about catching them all since like the 2nd or 2rd gen, to do so is a massive undertaking.  The new features are cool to fiddle with, but they only add very marginally to the game, 99% of the fun is still in the core game.  I forget why I disliked Ruby the most, but that was definitely my least favorite.

Basically, Red and Blue were the perfect game, the most distilled and least filled with clutter.  Like the original Pac man, Tetris, Pokemon, all perfect.  As time went on many feel it was filled with useless clutter, including Pokemon.  I mean there are like 700 now.  Between all the events you must attend and the raw man hours, it's becoming borderline insanity.  Nothing of SUBSTANCE ever changes, which is why people don't care about the marginal improvement.

I have never really played a Pokemon game before.  My little brother who is nine years younger than me used to like them but he doesn't play them anymore.  If I ever get a 3DS then I might have to pick up one of them to try it out to see if I would like it :).

While they may be better games, the new pokemon designs are what people that prefer older games dislike. Most of my friends who used to like pokemon when we were 9 or 10(me included) look at new pokemon and lol, the milking of the anime series is something that bothers too.
