It's late and I'm hungry.

Plus, it's no ENTIRELY unplausible.

It's pretty much the same technology as always I would say. A camera "reads" a special picture (Eye of Judgment on PS3, Invizimals on PSP, AR cards on 3DS) and then the video game system generates a 3D model based on that information. In the end it's just something to fool around or to show off, once you've seen it a few times you likely won't care for it anymore, because how does this substantially add to the game experience?

But even if the NGP can transform any random picture into a 3D model, it's still not going to be the next big thing in gaming.

no, it will be the next big thing in virtual porn!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Am I the only one that saw discrepancies between when and how the device moved and when and how the picture moved? It looks fishy to me. I call fake/staged.
