Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata gave his GDC 2011 keynote earlier this morning in California. With a focus on social gaming and the social interface developers and other companies have given the game industry over the last twenty-five year, Nintendo acknowledged two of the largest contributors: Microsoft and Activision.
With Xbox Live and Call of Duty considered to be the ideal means for online social interaction, Nintendo recognized their assistance in the game industry and praised Microsoft for their constant dedication to the Live service. Xbox Live has millions of users and had formed a strong social network over the last decade. Iwata later praised Call of Duty in building a strong and constant online community of millions of players.
With Nintendo focusing on the improvements that other companies have implemented to the game industry, it’s refreshing to see a company like Nintendo thanking companies like Microsoft and Activision for their involvement in growing the industry over the last few decades.
