That guy should be charged with animal cruelty. You don't just go out of your way to kick an animal for no apparent reason. The owl probably died because of that hit. It was disoriented and not harming anyone after it got hit by the ball.

I found this news stupid when I read them...I mean, when a player punches another in a football pitch you don't initiate a legal proceeding, and they want to do one for kicking an owl?...I think it's a bit retarded
