In Amsterdam I saw Bulletstorm in store on Tuesday, whereas Killzone 3 arrived on Friday. So it might only be one day or even half a day of sales from KZ3 becuase the article is from Friday and I'd suppose people don't work after 5 and it was a holiday week (for the compiling of the list I mean).

Also from dutchcharts:

"Marvel vs Capcom 3 is in 6th place on both ps3 and 360. Bulletstorm is in 10th place on PC and 2nd place on 360"

oh

lets hope,at least TDU top 1&2 second week

Kirby will chart in the top 40 next week. (Not that it didn't release this week, but NoE's strategy with lower tier releases seems to be to advertise mostly just after the game has been released) Won't get very high though.

De Blob is hilarious. 31st on the Wii only chart and nowhere to be seen at all on the DS, 360 or PS3 chart at all. And they thought simply going multiplatform was a sure fire way to increase their audience...

So what should we blame Killzone 3's sales on?

  • Gutting of features from Killzone 2 in the name of "accessibility"
  • A bad taste left in people's mouths after Killzone 2
  • A much busier release schedule, surrounded by BS, LBP2, and DS2

I hope GG assumes it's the first, but it's probably a mix of all three. I know a few that passed on the game because it removed much of what they loved about Killzone 2;s multiplayer, and I know at least one person that is waiting on the game because they're lost in LBP2.

Market oversaturation with shooters?

Hell no :p Last CoD and Halo did outstanding so that can't be the case.

Today, during one of my free periods, I went round Winchester high street into GAME, HMV and Blockbuster.  The only one that stocked De Blob 2 was HMV, and even then it was just the DS version, none of the others.  That probably helps explain the numbers a little bit.

So how long will Killzone 3 stay above Black Ops?  Two weeks?

Killzone3 with similar opening week sales as LBP2?

Surprising.

Doesnt really bode well.

Killzone2 opened with 354,000 in EMEAA, LBP2 opened with 187,000

So if this UK trend is the same Europe wide (it could actually be worse as the UK favours FPS over other Euro countries) then thats almost half the opening of KZ2 or worse..... weird.

Yes this is anectodal evidence, but:

In the Netherlands I could get Killzone 2 in stores on Tuesday, when the official release was Thursday. Killzone 3 was officially released Friday and I could only see in it stores Friday.

Still it's sales will be disappointing even if I was anticipating lower sales.
