That is true^ but people do not drink soda or eat candy to get high. They may want to spend more time in the bathroom brushing their teeth or working out more in the gym, but it is not to get high.

I 100% disagree with this.  While it's not "high" in the same way as alcohol or THC get you, people do have a similar reaction.  Ever heard the phrase "sugar high"?  There's a reason for that.  Too much sugar creates a buzz, then later they crash.  Just like a drug.  Then they want/need more.  Just like a drug.  Same goes with caffeine.  Many people can't even function without the fake energy buzz from several cups of coffee throughout their day.

We're past the medical thing, its common knowledge that most smoke it because of peer pressure and/or pleasure. Maybe even addiction.

I never said most smoke it for it's medicinal qualities, never even implied it, just stated the fact that it does have medicinal qualities.

Funny things are funnier - You mean you laugh at stupid stuff? There's a solution to this, get funnier friends.

Sure, you could laugh at stupid stuff. But it also makes things you'd still find funny sober een funnier. One of my favourite things to do while high is watch stand-up. I find it funny sober, but it's damn hilarious when I'm high. Most of my friends don't smoke.

Sex is more intense - Well there is a safe, legal alternative that doesn't fuck up your mind, its called viagra. Try it.

So now weed "fucks up your mind"? You're an ignorant tool confirmed then. Do you have the same policy on other aphrodisiacs as well? Just try viagra instead? Oh and: http://www.euroclinix.net/viagra-side-effects.html

Music is amazing - Well if you're bored of your current music, look for something new. If getting high is the only way to for you to enjoy music, there's an obvious issue here.

Who said it's the only way to enjoy music? With music, I think it as another way really... you hear all the intracate details and everything blends together nicer. It's more "different" than "better" actually, so my wording was poor.

Food tastes incredible - Maybe if you ignore the taste of weed in your mouth LOL. Again, if getting high is the only way for you to enjoy food, you got a major problem.

Again, who said it's the only way to enjoy food? It enhances that enjoyment. The taste of weed is gone if I eat a couple skittles.

Burst of ideas and creativity - You mean delusions? You do know this is a symptom of schizo right?

Nope, I don't mean that. It's let's you see things in a new light rather than see things that weren't there before. A lot of the time it lets you get rid of insercurites and personal biases so you can really self-reflect. I often write down my thoughts when high and then read them again when sober. Sure, some is barely coherant ramblings, but a lot is really helpful, even mind-blowing at times. I learn a lot about myself.

But go on, keep putting it down. You're the one missing out.

Not missing out on much, really. I think I'll live. Let me ask you one final question, can you go a month without weed? If not then you are dependent on it.

a month? i can barely go half a day without my next joint.

"i think ill live". lol, ok. i guess im dying then? im on a tolerance break right now so ive gone 2 weeks and will go another 3... another good thing about weed is it's not very addictive (only psychologically, like fast food or video games can be). i generally don't smoke that much anyway, once or maybe twice a week.

Marijuana is a drug. All drugs are bad. Short-term you might not notice any side effects but when you are smoking it for a long time it will have a negative effect on your health, at least from the smoke alone. Smoking is bad for your lungs. You can't deny that. That alone should be enough reason to not legalize it.

There is research out there that marijuana use leads to psyhological problems. Of course determining if there were already psyhological problems to begin with is hard to prove so smoking could have just worsened any existing conditions.

The problem with weed is how it is promoted as being "cool" by rappers. Kids think its cool to smoke weed and use it as a way to "fit in" with the other cool kids. This is a major issue that isn't going to go away anytime soon. Legalizing marijuana will only make kids have easier access to this drug.

So you are saying we should ban tobacco as well then, that's so crazy

There is definitive proof that tobacco causes cancer and many other health problems.(such as heart disease) Yes, they should bn tobacco. You can't imagine how glad I was when they banned smoking indoors.

Yeah I agree, i can't stand the stuff. It stinks and is a waste of money and i'm aware of health problems associated with tobacco but would you arrest everyone who smoked? That's my problem here. Smoking isn't a crime, it's a nuisance though. BUT i see it as there choice, if they want to smoke and pay towards an early death, then so be it. I'm not the one doing it. I see legalising pot and any drug for that matter, in the same way. It's my choice if i want to smoke, and i must live with the consequences (That is the beauty of capitalism). I've chosen not to, but that don't mean i chosen for everyone. You can ban anything if it's harmful, then what would be left? probably nothing.

To put it into prospective, what did the ban on alcohol in the 1920's do? It just created a dangerous black market with a gang culture and corruption (similar to the war on drugs today)

Yep, keeping it illegal just empowers the Mexican drug cartels. Having any drug illegal causes more harm than good. Pretty obvious some of you haven't learned shit from what happens with the war on drugs and alcohol prohibition. Keep locking up non-violent drug offenders and let the rapist, murderers, and child molesters go free early due to drug offenders clogging up the prison system. Let us just keep feeding the private prison industry. This prohibition is working out so awesome. Pretty soon no one will ever use drugs again. Yea right... Wake the fuck up.

For peoples information, the USa about six months ago reached the tipping point in which more than 50% of people in national surveys said Marijuana should be legal. It has been seen in more than one survey now. States like Colorado and Washington had the majority saying MJ should be legal about 4 years ago and were close to being alone on really high favor of it and now are both legal. Opinions have changed relatively fast on legal MJ. With most Western and many North Eastern states having large amounts of people in favor of legalization it is not that far off. Most young individuals in the USA support legalization. It is mainly older individuals above 60 that do not support it.
