I'm trying to watch a dvd, anytime I try to enter the disc into the system, the ps3 spits it out or takes it and gives off the loudest groan known to man. But when I try to feed it a game, it takes it no questions asked.

Maybe the ps3 is bored of French films and doesn't want to watch "My Best friend" with me or it is genuinely dying...what do you think?

What model do you have, I think one of those has a seperate laser for dvds and blu rays, if you have that one your dvd laser might just be dead try a blu ray movie

I have the 160GB fat. It is not as quiet as it used to be and while playing Black Ops it froze a bunch of times giving me creeps. I blamed it on the game and got rid of it and it seems to be working fine for the most part. The touch sensitive buttons on the ps3 are less well sensitive. I guess your's is also showing signs of aging. Can't say it is dying but the french movie part seems spot on :P
