Forums - Gaming - Do you keep games in a collection ie. A LOT OF THEM, or trade/aquire/trade

as question above^

i feel i have to many at the mo, many i dont play them but kept in case i decide to have another go. When you have 5 consoles you tend to gather quite a lot of them. some of my titles i hold on to as they become difficult to get hold of/or remain higher priced later on especially RPG`s.

im thinking of trading in my DS with all its RPG`s i have to get a 3DS, and a slew of PS3 titles + 360 console to get a new black slim 360.

so whats your habbits on this? keeping a huge collection or having a streamlined collection to complete & trade as new titles come out?

i dont buy a lot of games so the ones i buy i keep, i think its pretty stupid buying games and then selling them for a huge loss. Then its better to rent them if you dont plan on keeping them

I keep good games in collection. If I sold something on which i spent a month of my live for a few bucks it would be like selling good friend.

But for average games which i played and I know i won't ever want to play them again I'm selling them.

Now I have a huge dillema on what to do with PSP games - on one hand I don't want to sell stuff like VC2 or Jeanne d'arc but with NGP changing memory format I'd also have to keep PSP to play them.

I keep all my games... but I ended up with so many that a lot of them (most games from 1985 till 2007) are stored in the basement of my parents... I only have my Dreamcast, DS, Wii, 360 and PS3 games at my appartment...

I used to trade but since the middle of the PS2 era, I started keeping everything.  I'm glad I did, too.  In the past week, I've replayed

  • Space Channel 5 Part 2
  • The Bouncer
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Zone of the Enders
  • Enslaved
  • Valkyria Chronicles (going back to finally finish it).

I had tons of fun with these games.  Had I turned them in for store credit, I'd be missing out on that fun.  Last year this time, I had already bought around 15 games, easily.  This year, all I bought was Back to the Future (PS3) and Hydrophobia (Xbox 360).  I was spending so much time/money looking for the next big thing that I overlooked much of the huge (and I mean HUGE) library I already owned.  I'm going back and giving a lot of my favorite games a second look and I'm enjoying the nuances of them even more.  Next up, MGS 1-4, Gears 1 & 2, and Twilight Princess.

--I have tons of PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox 1 (even though I didn't buy them until I got a 360), and Dreamcast games boxed up in my closet.  I won't dare part with any of them, though.

ive just sifted through again narrowing down ones to trade, although i havent played star ocean for a good while now, if i get rid id end up getting it back so im stuck......................games like dante inferno death edition id like to get rid but its the special edition and is like new. il have to make decision soon as i want 3DS and slim 360

@d21, i had mario sunshine and space channel long time ago id love to play them again, thats what im meaning if you stop playing them and trade its highly likely you might want to have another go :(

I did trade when I was younger and had less money, but since I have had enough to buy new ones without selling them I have kept them, resulting in a 200 game collection (the only annoying things is Steam meaning I miss out on physical copies of most PC games)

The only time I sell games is in a big bundle with a console on eBay. I never trade in, it's usually a rip-off.

I had a ton of games, about 30 when I just couldn't be bothered to keep them anymore, so I left about 5-6 that I play the most, sold most to friends and traded in like 6-7 and got like £56 gamestation credit ^^

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

I keep all my games unless the it's actually horrible. I've got two glass shelves covering the right side of my rampus and it's covered in games and a few movies. The last game I traded in was Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen and I got $20 for it, even though I paid $8, so it was cool.

I like having a collection. I like picking up old games and playing them at random, just the other day I picked up Heavenly Sword and played half of it just so I could compare it to Enslaved (which was fantastic).

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
