While we're speaking of reading.

Who here has moved to e-books ?

I have been a hard core book collectors for years with close to 1500 scifi/fantasy books in my collection and then I got a kindle 10 months ago.

Since then I haven't purchased a single paper book and I am actually reading a lot again ( purchased and read 35 e-books or so in 10 months while I was down to reading 8-9 books a year before that).

The thing that really rocks with the kindle is the spur of the moment purchase. I used to buy books as they were released, especially  in case of series as I never knew if I would be able to find them later on. And when i wanted to read a new book I would look at my backlog and have to decide what to read next.

Now when I finish a book I can get and start reading any book I want within 60 seconds, so I get to read what i feel like reading at that time, not what I purchased 2 years earlier........

One thing I had never done before (except for LOTR) is that e-books are cheap enough that I find myself repurchasing old books I had and rereading them again....

I LOVE MY KINDLE !!!

I've debated getting one of those.  For stuff where the mass market paperback has released, the kindle price seems to be about the same as the mass market price, but I have a backlog of books still, so it'd be a while before I'd buy one.

Edit: The only problem I have with it is I really love looking at a book collection/series on the shelf, even if there are only 20 books, I'd rather see that then see somebody just have 20 wireless copies.

I haven't and honestly, I don't feel like to. Hated reading iBooks on the iPad and while the kindle is somewhat better for reading I didn't float my boat either. Also, Kindle books doesn't feel cheap enough for me, they are usually like $9-10 and standard paperback prices are always a single dollar or so more expensive due to discounts, at least concerning the books I read.

But I respect the choice anyways and I'm glad to see literature survived unharmed the internet, either by books or by e-books,specially taking into account their digital size and thus ease to pirate.

My experience is that if a book is out on paperback the e-book is cheaper than the paperback by about 1$ on Amazon...

I have a Nook and I just got The Wife a Nook Color for Valentine's Day and we're both hooked.  I love my bookshelf and my book collection...but it just takes so much space. On top of that, packing and moving my massive collection of books is always one of the hardest things to do.  I'll miss growing my book collection but the reality is I only have so much space and my Nook takes care of that nicely.  I have about 30 books on it with room for thousands more before needing to expand the memory and it takes up the space of a notebook.

The one thing that does bother me though is The Wife and I can't share books back and forth.  There are some books I can lend her for two weeks, but not every book and even that is a pain.  Even when I'm through with the book I can't give it to her to read like I would a normal book so I'm probably just going to rip the DRM from all my eBooks.

I just looked up the current series I'm reading (Wheel of Time), and the Kindle books were the same price as the mass market paperback.

But, one other benefit about a Kindle is that you can get books out of copyright for free.  There's several books that I would like to get to that are defiantly out of copyright by now.

I am now reading Steven Erikson's Toll the Hounds, the eighth installment of the Malazan Book of the Fallen.

Yessssss

So delicious

A couple of points: Wuthering Heights is way better than Jane Eyre no debate.

I am just now starting to be an avid book collector so I don't think I will move to ebooks anytime soon.

Angels and Demons is better than The Da Vinci Code no debate. Those are the only two Brown books I've read and I enjoyed them on an entertainment level. A lot of people I know (and Badgenome) hate them. I still have to read The Lost Symbol.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

I really didn't like the Lost Symbol, if I am honest, Deception Point and maybe Digital Fortress were the only decent Dan Brown books I've read, I think I've read them all except for Angels and Demons.

I haven't done much reading at all lately, I think the last book I've read was The Lost Symbol or Digital Fortress, I was sort of bored by both and haven't really had time to read anything else. Most likely will go outside in the summer to chill in the sun and read some of the books that I've read before.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Defiantly read digital fortress and deception point too.  They are a bit different for overall storyline than Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code, but they were very good books in my opinion.
