Forums - Sony - I beginning to think Killzone 3 could've used more time in the oven.

It's pretty obvious. The best they can hope for is for a Valve like support where they patch all types of goodness in the game. Honestly, I'm not expecting it and as I said, this will struggle to sell half of what Killzone 2 sold.

so 1 million tops, right because people don't like cutscenes transitions.

Lack of online co op is a bigger issue than anything else. In this day and age it'll kill their sales, especially with word of mouth destroying it. It's in GG and Sony's best interest to have a co op patch within 30 days of launch so they can at least avoid long term bad word of mouth and get some sales.

Word of mouth isn't destroying it, quite the contrary actually. Straightforward, it has an online, it has co-op, and it has a decent enough single player to carry it to at least KZ2's sales levels.

I highly doubt it. All KZ2 players hated KZ3 beta, lack of online co op on a FPS 2011 is really stupid and no one is going to want to buy a gimped product. That's the cold, hard truth. The demo also left a lot to be desired and to put the last nail in the coffin, a major AAA FPS from none other than Epic Games is coming out on the same day.

Thanks for letting us know what all Killzone 2 players thought of the beta, lol.

  • Insomniac:  Released an incredibly underwhelming Resistance 2 after only two years, and switched to a three year dev cycle for Resistance 3.
  • Epic:  Released a somewhat underwhelming Gears 2 after only two years (it was mainly the multiplayer that had issues), and switched to a three year dev cycle for Gears 3.

There goes your credibility! Both of those games ruled.

I agree on one end. Gears 2 was better than the first in every way possible.

Resistance 2 did suck balls though.

I really don't understand why so many people say that. Granted, Resistance 2 was one of the first PS3 games I played, so maybe I was still intoxicated with the novelty of the thing. And I never played the first Resistance, so it could have been an awesome game and maybe Resistance 2 was just a huge letdown by comparison. But damn it, Resistance 2 was fucking fun!

I also don't get all the hate for Gears 2 multiplayer. I really enjoyed it, whereas the first one was just a boring shotgunpalooza to me.

I think the game tried to cover way too many aspects in such a short time...mostly 3D and Move support.

I've only had a chance to play Gears 2 co-op, but from what I've read on gaf and heard from friends, the online competitive multiplayer was pretty broken, thanks to lag and other things.  All the complaining is why they're moving to dedicated servers and having a beta for Gears 3.

Things did occasionally spaz out but no worse than in most other games. It was nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. You know... if I didn't know better, I'd almost think GAF likes to bitch for the sake of bitching!

I was an avid kz2 player and absolutely enjoyed the multiplayer beta, everything about it was top notch to me.  I didnt play the single player demo because I already knew I was getting the game so im not aware of issues with it, but to me the multiplayer was the best Ive played since bad company 2... which I still play.  I love the sweet spot theyve found with the weighted down feel, and everything else theyre adding sounds like theyve improved on kz2 in every way possible.  Im absolutely certain that gg will patch in several more features and tweaks over the coming months like usual, to think otherwise is just foolish.  Do yourselves a favor and buy this game, so i can kill you : )

That's irrelevant, the bottom line is it'll eat up on Killzone 3's sales.

It was broken during launch, but patches made it a whole lot better. Funny it's the other way around with Uncharted, was great during launch and patches broke the multiplayer.
