Wasn't aware of that.

I didn't have problems with KZ2, nor did I have problems with Gears. I do have issues with ramming stuff into eyesockets. It is one of the things I had issues with. Some forms of violence I don't have issues with, while others I do. For example, I walked out on Robocop 2 after they were showing them ripping the chest open of a screaming guy in slow detail. Apparently a chainsaw through locusts doesn'treally bother me.
For me, some things can cause a game to be a turn off (and if they have a filter, it doesn't turn off sales), and myself to lose interest in it. There is enough I don't need it. Gore factor is a reason for lack of interest in Dead Space 2, for example. But a game may also do something playwise that causes it to go into no go territory. Brutal Legends lost me with its music game minigame you had to perform during battle. It just didn't click with me. So much content out there, I can develop being very picky, particularly with limited funds. Also, it goes as far as movies. Throw in 3D, and I won't go see it. The glasses don't jive with me at all.

Interesting. Maybe you just aren't as desensitized to violence as others.
I'd be hard pressed to think of where I would draw the line on gaming violence. I'd imagine if a game included the killing of young children in a violent fashion (not like Bioshock) I'd probably steer clear of it.

My internal value sets has a preference for less misery and suffering in the world, so I really don't delight in seeing an increased amount of suffering. I don't need ultrarealism in my games either, and something like Dead Space 2, which excessive gore, really doesn't do it for me. I also don't have a desire to play through the evil side in any game either. The thing for me is, I can go, "Yeah, what does it matter, it isn't reall anyhow?" Well, if it is an ideal state I want to play in, I prefer to be a hero than someone who is hated, who does nasty thing. Consider it my preferences based on my values also. Not a big fan of suffering as means of "payback" also. Feel the world is messed up enough, that I am disgusted a bit the human species seems to feel the need to inflict suffering and loss to affect change. Shoot, I had hopes of trying to convert Cerberus in the Mass Effect universe to become more acceptable even. Hey, not sure being desenstized to violence is a good thing.
This being said, I don't mind studying evil and have an interest in such, to try to understand it. One of the things of Killzone's universe that interests me is the Helghast people and what had happened there and they aren't just evil. The character Visari, for example, I found compelling.
And last point, I do play games for the sake of play. I play shooters where I shoot stuff, and Borderlands is arguably my favorite game this generate. LOTS of shooting there, and looting.
man i love those things...especially in God Of War ^^
some people maybe be turned off by those excessive things...but there is also a bright audience who likes it...
I also dont like those gory things, but It would never hold me off playing a game like KILLZONE! nor GOD OF WAR i love em
Even if you're able to turn them off in SP, I guess you would still find them in MP.
You played GoW3? If so, how did you feel? Especially at the poseidon part ^_^?

It is making the effect of the kill excessive I find a turnoff. Is it ok if I don't want to drive a knife into someone's eyeball? Or do you feel it is a necessity people actually ENJOY doing that? Why should I avoid playing a game a certain way, just to avoid certain effects, when doing a melee attack may be essential? I do have enough FPS titles, but ended up liking the storyline and world of Killzone. Because of the quantity I own and can still play, I can afford to be picky. |
here is what best for you, there is several way it performing in melee attacks, only two of them attacking eyeball, when you notice it is performing any of this two, close your eyes just for a while since our eyes need rest anyway when playing games... xDD

Never got to play God of War 3, just the demo of it, which was fine.
